Transfer (new contract)

Two issues I wonder if anyone can help with.

1) how long before transfer?

The People App says it's 6 months.



However, my COM says it 12 months.

Is the People App up to date? This being RM, it's not guaranteed is it?

2) are front line jobs still included on Sucess Factors? I can't see any jobs after searching for Postperson or Postman/Postwoman.

There is a job in a local office, which is on jobs.royalmail.com that I'd like to try and transfer for.

But what would be the process if they're not on Success Factors ?

It's also helpful to speak to HR, telling them that you have applied externally, and also try and get into the office you want to transfer to and speak to the com.

And yes, you can transfer after six months.

You are eligible to apply to transfer once you have completed 6 months in your current office, subject to you meeting the relevant eligibility criteria.

But there's not been a postperson job advertised on the internal site for about a year. I'm guessing this has something to do with there not being an agreement on new starters t's and c's, and the fact that the external vacs are being advertised on these terms.

As stated above, this is the way you go about it - you go and see the manager at the office you want to transfer to and have a chat. If they say they have a place for you, see your own manager about organising a transfer. They may or may not be awkward if they are short of staff and maybe say you have to wait blah blah blah, but that’s how you get the ball rolling.

An UPDATE

1. I spoke to the COM in the DO I would transfer to. They had a space for me and wanted to do it ASAP. Agreed the 6 month min was the state of play.

2. Spoke to COM in my DO, who restated the 1 year limit but climbed down immediately when shown evidence. Agreed to let me go.

3. CoM in target DO asked for my Employee ID number to make the transfer. Start in a couple of weeks.

The old way of sucess factors and transfer lists doesn't seem to apply any more. Frontline jobs do not get added to sucess factors. And afaict, there is no transfer list process - asked union rep about this, who asked higher up but couldn't find out anything helpful.

If you don't know the manger in the DO, you can use the organisational structure page on Sucess Factors to identify them and send an email or make a call if their number is in their profile.

TLDR: speak to the DO manager you want transfer to start with. Then, if there is an option to transfer, talk to your current COM.

I'm on the contract where I don't work Sundays having been employed since 2021. I've been asking for a transfer for 2 years to an office closer to home. Only now I've managed to have an interested manager in helping me at the depot I want to go to. But now I can't apply on that success factors as it doesn't work. I don't want to have to go on the new contract but surely they can't stop a transfer if it's financially viable for me? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated
