New contract pay after one year?

Hi Everyone.
I’ve been a postal working since November last year so on the new contract with the reduced hourly rate of £12.29.
I’m pretty sure when I went through the process of getting the job someone told me the pay goes up £1 a hr after a year of employment.
Can someone confirm please.

Quite a divided pay and benefit structure compared to the old contract.
Struggling to survive on the new contract tbh!

They want you to struggle on the new contract.
That way you're always up to be used for overtime.

The "old" contract went up by 50p after six months, and another 50p after twelve months. Those pay increases were always included in the job adverts. I haven't seen any mention of similar increases in the "new" contracts, so I would think RM have binned it.

Is it even legal what they're doing? I don't see how you can have 2 people doing the same job, yet paying one more. I'm not even talking about gender/race discrimination etc it's just complete bollocks somebody can be paid less for doing EXACTLY the same job. It's the same job title, same uniform, same rules etc. I cannot believe the union put their name to it.

Need to take this further and demand equal rates. Also push for a 1.25 overtime rate for all and not just the new contracts.

I remember Dave Ward on live union meeting around Feb 2022 saying "a two tier workforce was a red line they wouldn't cross", that really aged well.

Nope, your new rate in April will be £12.54 an hour. 2% increase.

Sounds like the manager who told u this at interview didn’t know what they were talking about. You should know that’s a common theme at RM by now.
