Managers were practically begging us to come in and do Sunday to "deliver mother's day." From Thursday to Saturday we got council "changes to your refuse collection schedule" letters for every house, water company "to the occupier" letters to every house and energy company "to the occupier" letters to every house alongside the named versions of (presumably) the same letter... Nobody wanted to do any more after that

Thursday the DTS system was switched off nationally so any mail held by the DTS system was automatically released Thursday night. Locally what I believe was council tax letters come through for a couple of DOs Friday night, one of them DOs is covered by DTS, most of them letters got held by the DTS, with there now being about a yorks worth of DTS for each of them batches.

While it'd be nice for the acronyms to be broken down a bit more often, it's not too hard to gather that the "DTS" system manages machine sortable mail and tries to link lower priority bulk mailings (Council tax and the like) visits with addresses that have 1st class mail on each day until a given time limit, to spread the load across several days with some logic on when to give an address a given bulk mailing item, primarily to houses you already have to visit...

Basically computerised "warm calling" with your junk mail, just, with real letters instead. If it's off, you get the lot, if it's on, you should generally only get the bulk letters to houses you already need to visit that day.

Whole frames of mail filled with Mothers Day cards left behind. COM barely even acknowledged it. Everyone was doing their own separate thing. No leadership. No consistency. Pure chaos. Some people will be lucky to even get them on Monday. Embarrassing that we will be delivering those cards well into next week.

Someone has to be done about quality of service. It's shockingly bad and no one seems to give a f**k other than the posties. Who ironically are the people the company are pointing the finger at.

I'm hardly a fan of the current RM, but, nothing is perfect. I've seen the results of it working properly, spreading council stuff across several days rather than flooding us on one day. Yeah, parcels and manual letters don't line up, but I think it landed better than full "you get everything".

I disagree with you here. The product we are selling people is to deliver it the next day. We aren't even trying. Not even pretending to care anymore. It's not something we should be finding acceptable just because we know there are problems.

Are you implying there is some kind of weekly meeting that would inform staff about these sorts of things? I have to conclude after the last few years that WTLL has been scrapped as national policy. As with plenty from both RM and the CWU, I only know about it because I previously read it here.

I disagree with you here. The product we are selling people is to deliver it the next day. We aren't even trying. Not even pretending to care anymore. It's not something we should be finding acceptable just because we know there are problems.

I don’t find it acceptable but if I wanted something there next day I would send it special delivery.
