Also I don’t get what the deal with van checks is. I don’t have to fill out a tick sheet every time I drive my car…

God, how naive is that comment - surely trying to take the p*** with that one.

Unfortunately, most of vans belong in the knackers yard. I've reported faults with doors not locking/unlocking via the fob (you have to turn the key in the door to lock), tyres being badly worn, wing mirrors falling off, dents which are never repaired, oil leaks etc etc. They get taken in to the local garage and they arrive back in the same condition! We often get told that there are no spare vans available so have to use that one and many staff wanting to get their rounds done are daft enough to let managers get away with it.

Just refuse to take the van out ffs! If it's not roadworthy, it's not roadworthy.

Sadly I think it's going to take the police throwing the book at delivery staff for driving a vehicle in an unsafe condition for it to sink in that any staff member should be refusing to drive any vehicle that's not in a safe condition/road legal.

It’s game over for over half the vans at our place. Why bother checking and reporting an engine light every day when it never gets sent to the workshop? Who do they pay to put these through an MOT?

Our vans get sent but as soon as we get them back and run them a few days, the engine light just come back on again. Im pretty sure all they do is clear the code and send them back out.

Funny enough the other day, i was using a different van, did its checks and the windscreen filler tube was missing its cap and had plastic bag and elastic bans holding it in place. Another persons van appeared to have part of its air intake missing, as if it was sucking air straight into the engine without going through the air filter
