Pretty quiet here, I reckon only about 10% mail undelivered, cards and flowers noticeably down on previous years, when I say only about 10% mail undelivered that's actually a disgrace considering how quiet it was today if we'd had enough staff then we'd have cleared everything.

Water letters yesterday for nearly house, today was council tax. Absolutely mental why they couldn't be sent Monday as most walks struggled yesterday so today was very very heavy!

We cleared all (tracked) Mother’s Day flowers and cards today. Overall, I’d say it was only 10% busier than a usual Saturday though. Tomorrow (Sunday) is forecast to be much busier than usual for us - supposedly close to 800 Sunday LATs are heading our way!

Don't think we had as many cards pass through, plenty of flowers though. We had a separate setup just for flowers which had a couple of people in it all night, more as needed.

Council tax letters have started to come through. On the batches which aren't DTS, it varied between 2 and around 4-5 boxes per walk. One walk I heard got half the output of a batch to itself, so probably between 10-12 boxes for them.

Think the ones that went to the DTS are due to be automatically released Wednesday night. I believe that we've got other bulk postings due through this week. The DTS yorks for each batch have about a normal batch worth of mail each on them. Think it'll reach a point where it'll be physically impossible to run it all and management will have the choice of have us leave the DTS till the next day or send some out as manual

From Thursday to Saturday we got council "changes to your refuse collection schedule" letters for every house, water company "to the occupier" letters to every house and energy company "to the occupier" letters to every house alongside the named versions of (presumably) the same letter... Nobody wanted to do any more after that

Locally what I believe was council tax letters come through for a couple of DOs Friday night, one of them DOs is covered by DTS, most of them letters got held by the DTS, with there now being about a yorks worth of DTS for each of them batches.

While it'd be nice for the acronyms to be broken down a bit more often, it's not too hard to gather that the "DTS" system manages machine sortable mail and tries to link lower priority bulk mailings (Council tax and the like) visits with addresses that have 1st class mail on each day until a given time limit, to spread the load across several days with some logic on when to give an address a given bulk mailing item, primarily to houses you already have to visit...

Basically computerised "warm calling" with your junk mail, just, with real letters instead. If it's off, you get the lot, if it's on, you should generally only get the bulk letters to houses you already need to visit that day.
