Cant discriminate the drivers v non
Drivers..This app is purely targetting drivers, when apart, there is no difference between the roles that a postie does...

So it cannot be used to bash the drivers, whilst the non-drivers, as per usual, gets the easy life..oh and get paid exactly the same for far less responsibility 😡
Oh my ❤️ is bleeding for you.

Out of all the walks in our office, there's probably 6 loops at a push where the non driver has longer loops, if fact there's more longer loops for the driver then the non driver. All our walks are still have loops designed like when park and loop first came in, when there were nowhere near the amount of oversized parcels like you have today.

Exactly, and we have the Specials to deal with, keep the van secure at all times, empty post boxes and keep those keys secure and drive safely. And as for the oversize ….

Our town rounds with a driver, seem to work differently. The first loop for the driver, is definitely smaller, by probably twenty minutes or so. The driver finishes the loop and then disappears doing oversized parcels, until the walker completes and is picked up. The rest of the day plays out with both roles sharing equal size loops, and if there are still parcels to do, they either do them together, or who gets back first does some.

It is wild how differently offices approach something that should be theoretically simple.

I don’t know why non drivers think drivers have it easy. When I have been in the passenger seat for work, it’s like being driven round by my Nana. All the responsibility is on the driver.

With the exception of a few stuck in the past with a chip on their shoulder lazy bastards, at our place most actually work together as a team, if one finishes a loop first they'll help the other, both driver and walker empty postboxes, both driver and walker are responsible for specials, the loops aren't "set in stone" as that's my job and that's yours, a lot of oversized can also be done together as you're driving between loops.

I suppose having said that it boils down to individuals attitude, working together can make a big difference to how smoothly and efficiently you get the job done.

On my loops i do my own boxes and specials and collections and if i have oversized i take a trolley and if it dont fit in a trolley the driver drives me to it before or after the loop ,its designed for trolleys start using them and lately with tracked being prioritised the driver does a maximum of 2 loops and spent the winter staying dry ,if i could pick a driving duty now i would ,the walker should get an extra payment.

That might be the case in your DO , but the reality is that it appears that’s not the case in most others. Of the four different duties that I cover each week, I can count on one hand the loops that are smaller for the driver. And as for Specials, it’s the driver who signs for them at ours and if anything goes wrong it’s the driver, unfairly, who gets bollocked, even if it’s on the non driver loop. Totally unbalanced system that’s weighed heavily against the driver. And lots where I work feel the same.

You’re stuck with it unless you can come up with some medical reason why you can’t do it.

You can pick off the duty I guess, but that would mean probably going back to being a reserve, if there aren’t any vacant suitable duties. I work four days and want to keep to that.
