All these DOs that claim that they take their break at the end of the shift but scan out at the start of that break. I hope the higher ups rip a load of hours out of your offices and your walks get made longer. You'll 100% deserve that happening as you've all been warned many times and you've ignored the warnings every time.

There should not be anyone scanning out before their official finish time. When RM see many people scanning out before their official finish time, they're getting a nice business case made for them to bring in pay based on SISO. It's going to be WHEN it gets brought in, not IF it gets brought in.
Thanks for the solidarity

Siso now requires you to input the finish time twice, once for the normal finish time and then you have to input half of your M/R, ie: normal finishing time is 15.00, when half your M/R is taken away your finish time is 14.40

You can quite legitimately sign out twenty minutes before your due finish time (full timers) with no ill effect on the office hours
Nope, you can't. There is no option to do that and MCs use the same SISO as DOs.

Management give delivery staff rope to make a noose and they readily use it

So if you were told you could finish 20 mins early every day would you ignore your manager and still scan out 20 mins later every day?

You're just coming across as a bitter individual.

Breaks are never taken at the end of shifts in MCs, they never will be as all shifts have a dispatch at the end of the shift. We might make some time once in a while but they always cut down on the number of casuals for the next day.

Every single time I was at our local MC, usually on a weekly basis, most OPG's were standing around chatting and not really doing an awful lot of work if I'm being honest.

These days anyone seen chatting by a manager gets moved. The managers have to account for every last hour that they use. You see them at the start of each hour counting the number of yorks/boxes of each mail stream in their work area. You'll get the odd time when we run out of work until the next lorry comes in. Lunch and break times are designed around lorry arrival times so that were at lunch/break when there's time till the next load of work coming in.

Earlies moan when nights do some of earlies work at the end of their shift, but then nights do some of earlies work as earlies have moaned about nights making a few minuets.

Some days now about half of the staff on shift are agency/casuals

As someone who inputs the start and finish times into SISO I can assure you that we do this on a daily basis.

Don't really give a toss if you believe that or not, what you can't do is go around spreading misinformation, you will get called out for it.

I'll be laughing my arse off when DOs get loads of hours ripped out of them. I can't see RM taking any notice of the notes if it suits them to rip a load of hours out of an office.

We're coming up to the end of the financial year and all MCMs and COMs are going to be instructed to remove x hours from their office. With workloads being a lot quieter than normal, it's going to be a much larger than normal number of hours they take out.

We don't complete now, you can take as many hours out as you want, I'll still be going 20 minutes before my time. :dance

How are the higher ups going to rip loads of hours out of a DO without making people redundant?

We had hours taken out of our office last year and they have still not put them back in! Deliveries have been failing and when it gets bad i.e. when duties haven't gone out for a few days despite rotation, they bring in agency/casuals whenever they can to help clear the backlog.

Whilst we are told that we can leave 20 minutes before our finish time by the COMs I'm also aware that legally, and this is from ACAS, is that rest breaks should not be at the start or the end of the day.

https://www.acas.org.uk/rest-breaks#:~: ... he%20day

Maybe the fact that the business are moving towards later start and finish times of up to and above an hour on deliveries, that finishing 20 minutes earlier might be something of a very small compromise?
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

No exemptions ,it looks like royal mail staff will have to join the rest of the British workforce and work around your kids ,Acas will never side with the worker on this one.

Family friendly hours was only ever RM policy as I recall. I’m not sure it was ever legally binding, so if they change the policy, then yeah I can’t see ACAS doing anything either. I do sympathise though.

That is because legally you are only entitled to a 20 minute break.
As we are entitled to a longer break there is no "legality" concerning what you do with the rest.

Does anyone check what meal relief these “leaving early people” are actually entitled too?

Only those working 7:59hrs or more are entitled to 40 mins MR

Below that the MR is only 30mins.
That means by law you have to take 20mins during the shift and would only be able to leave 10mins early

So all PT’s should not be leaving early.
The same goes for anyone on the new contracts which only have 30mins unpaid MR.

Get it checked and BUST’EM
