Yeah iirc it was extended when we changed from starting at 5am to 6am (I think it was quite a big jump at the time) unfortunately it stuck at 1pm throughout all the subsequent later starts.

Yes they were moved to 1pm many years ago.

We use to call next day delivery 1st class Mail. Now they have the balls to reclassify it as a special service and price it accordingly. They willl probably fail on that aswell

Just out of curiosity, does anyone try to do re-deliveries of specials before 1pm as well? Still seem to be a few people who think each attempt has a timer, when it's only the first one.

RM probably haven't yet updated the part of the system that flags up any SDs not done by 1pm as a failure.

I used to until I (eventually) got it from a manager that it’s only the first attempt before 1pm. Didn’t seem happy admitting it though.

No that's not right either, there been coms put out by royal mail that expressly says that they should be delivered on the core route and there is no need to break off from route to deliver them. Managers have been slow passing this information on but it was on workplace last week.

No you definitely don't have to attempt before 1pm if it's a day 2, or 3rd attempt or whatever.

I have noticed though if after a 2nd attempt they request a 3rd then if they're still not in then it reverts to try again next working day as though it's a 1st attempt, I personally ignore that and tick "you have to arrange redelivery" section on the card as they've already had their first two attempts.

They definitely have updated the system, the PDA will make a noise and notification when one is scanned in, much like the 9am ones do.

Heard similar before Xmas. 9am specials given to people whose job is 15 miles away at 850am. Don’t worry about it they get it when they get it I bet they don’t tell the sender this when they have paid £20/30 to send it.
