With the huge interest in VR on minimal terms that were previously offered RM realised they can adopt a policy of "why pay them off when we can just p**s them off"

This thread got me thinking about the difference between the eras of Single Daily Delivery and Park & Loop so I'm going to throw some numbers out (knowledge is power, and I've been playing the long game). Caveats abound.

Same walk in March 2008 and March 2023:
Mail -71%
Packets +126% (not including oversized)

For the most part the loops pretty much line-up with the old bag drops and the loop times are mostly consistent between the two dates. The whole duty (passenger + driver loops) together, though, takes about one man-hour longer. Some of that is taken up by breaking off for specials, doing oversized between loops, parcel collects, or just waiting for your partner to finish their loop, and so on. You all know where time is frittered away on delivery these days.

The overall effect is to turn the collapse of letters from what should be a cakewalk into an interminable affair.
