It would be self-policed - people who, like yourself, select the category Ex Royal Mail would be restricted to posting only in things like the Canteen forum etc. There has ben at least one, possibly more, Ex Royal Mail member who has been thrown off the site for being rude and offensive, hence my suggestion above.

But we have four girls at our place, all more than five years’ service, who are worried they are going to have to leave because the network changes mean they won’t be able to meet their childcare/caring responsibilities. Others on here are affected. I repeat, I am not one of them. But this is a delicate subject for many, let’s be respectful of others’ views and questions…

No pay should be docked from contracted hours because you scanned out early. Overtime is a different matter as thats negotiable and not contractual b ur they cannot dock you half an hours pay if one day you do your work and scan out half an hour early. Your manager can tell you that you need to stay in the office until your scheduled finish time but it was explicit in the agreement of SISO that pay cannot be docked. At least for now. The action they should be taking if someone regularly scans out early and goes home when they have been told not to is to go down the conduct code - not to dock pay.

If you are saying the manager is docking peoples pay then see the union. Now.

I understand the point you were trying to make now. Crossed wires I think. My Manager's a Champion Bullshitter and I expect it's just another example.

If someone completes his duty and swipes out early he isn't being docked any wages in my DO, at present. So that does beg the question why shouldn't he be able to take that unclaimed MR at the end of his duty and swipe out early (exactly the same as the first example).

The same Manager has a converstaion with a colleague about finishing early (he is FAST) and the subject of Banking Hours was raised... which I know is a DEFINATE NO NO!

Sometimes talking to these Managers is just like trying to convince a Small Child that they can't just do anything they like!

There are at least half a dozen peeps with childcare issues in my office awaiting with interest our COMs proposals for getting them finished by 3.15pm at the latest. He's already not the happiest of chaps after virtually the entire staff have told him not to bother asking them to work their rest days once the new times are embedded.

Seems it’s full of caveats. While it does indeed say there will be no local agreements, it suggests a workaround at question 42 to non-standard attendance patterns:

“ Separately to Network Window, an office can, through local agreement, change their duty pattern which may enable an earlier start time.”

It has also just agreed nationally that to mitigate later finishes, part of ones break can be taken at the end of shift.

I explicitly asked this question to our DOM today in our WTLL on the network time changes, and he said part of the break cannot be taken at the end of the shift (ie clock out 20 minutes early) as it had been prevented by the higher-ups! Do you have a source for the national agreement, Ren Hoëk? Not a trick question — I have been saving half of my break and leaving 20 mins early pretty much since I went permanent, and I would like to continue if possible. Not fussed about starting later too much but would like to continue to shorten my working day by 20 mins if I can. (Our depot’s standard change is 55 minutes later, last lorry now at 8.20 am-ish.)

Get used to being f****d over. Not to worry though, your finishing time will be 17.00 before you know it.

You’re right, it couldn’t be done for everyone as there wouldn’t be enough work.

But mail and packets will continue to come in waves, meaning staff, or at least those who need to stay on their original hours, can get on with prepping what work there is available. There is also masses of advanced tracked that comes in from the previous afternoon onwards that needs sorting. It may be that people have to do slightly different work in the first hour or so, but there is still work that can be done by those who need to maintain their current hours of work.

Ours are decent to be honest given the horror stories I've heard from other areas. 6:30 start every day, bar Saturday which is unchanged at 6. 1:35 (13:55 official) finish Monday, Tuesday, Friday. Wednesday and Thursday have been pushed back to 14:10 (14:30) official, whilst Saturdays finish is 12:30 (12:50).
