Park and Loop

Post by kazardaimenu »

Does park and loop/ 2 in a van put us in the Stone Age compared to other ‘parcel companies’? I feel like it leads to a far less dynamic and motivated work force.

Especially when you get total opposites working together like I’ve got. Drives me mad some days, worst part about the job for me. I doubt it’ll change though. On the rare days that I work a rest day, or get booted off my rota duty I insist on having my own van, or I ain’t doing it.

Ha ha yeah, I’ll think about that one when I’m in my really ‘green ‘ 13 plate dolmio, with all the lovely fumes belching out of it.

Exactly! RM have an agenda of milking as much profit as possible, over and above anything/anyone else.

It wouldn’t be so bad if the PDA had a function showing where your van partner is so you can go and help. My record is 42 minutes stood on the side of the street wondering where he was, whether I was meant to walk to a different rendezvous (this was first time on this round working with someone I’d only just met so we hadn’t exchanged phone numbers).
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Bring back individual working, I used to like most of my colleagues......until I worked with them.

13 plate. The luxury! Next you'll be telling us you've got four wheels and doors that aren't held on with hazard tape. Lol

I can honestly say after nearly 40 years in the job mainly on delivery and still fairly fit as I still do park run 5k in 26 minutes, park and loop is the worse thing ever brought in. I spend at least 1 hour a day wasted waiting at the van. I walk at a fairly decent speed but do not cut corners. Nothing worse than a partner who walks slow and talks to everyone. What’s all this other people prepping your round? I get sick to death walking along a street and coming across missorts because they wasn’t concentrating or won’t put their glasses on when sorting.
When we use to sort our own and deliver only what we had sorted I rarely had mistakes. Now all I do is keep bringing back the mistakes. Also no I won’t go and find a lazy partner to help him/her because they spend 2 minutes chatting at every door. I have got sick and tired of it. I use to love the job but they have made the easiest job very hard. To think I left the forces for this. If only I could have seen the future. Glad I’m in my last couple of years.

Why not just use the phone functionality built into the PDAs?

Why not just use the phone functionality built into the PDAs?
It only allows you to call numbers that are pre-set into it - RAC, manager, office etc. You cannot just dial any number.
