Mail centre start times

Post by Bazbuz »

Have any mail centres had their start and finish times altered. Plenty of rumours and speculation but nothing official has been said.

Not heard anything yet. Think a lot will depend on if early shifts have got the staff to sort the late inward stuff whilst at the same time sorting the 2C and T48. You might find your night shift doing more 2C and T48 to free up capacity on your early shift for your early shift to be able to do the late inward.

You'd imagine something should have been announced in MC's otherwise what's the point of us starting later, I obviously assumed the driving factor is the mail would be despatched later but if nothing has changed then what's the issue here it can't be just to piss us all off.

Think the mail centres will only change hours on the day the network changes. Sometime in June according to a letter I've seen. So we're about 4 months from that happening. Not sure how much notice they have to give us.

Think it's just 30 days formal notice for changes to start times. There might not even need to be changes of start times in MCs. If early shifts have got enough staff then they can do the late inward and nights take on some more 2C and T48 to free up capacity on earlies

It's looking like our times might not be changing on nights. Management have a say in the finishing time and they are not to keen on finishing later either. They believe we can turn over the last van in 20 mins (10/15 Yorks arriving at 5.30am) That gives us 45 mins to do it. They are gonna trial it and see how it goes is what we are hearing.

Assuming that it arrives at a similar time for us, with a couple of SAs in place for earlies we're probably in the same situation. Though any mech on them yorks will go straight to manual as the wave 2 will be just about finished when it comes in. Probably get whacked through the iLSM on Plan 91

Surprised you still have SAs in done away with ours at least 2 years ago on all shifts including sundays.
