New start times

New start times announced in our office Mon 19th February, expected to go back an hour from 7.15 to 8.15 , ok ive seen start times at my office from when I first started go from 5.30 am to 6.00 am to 7.00 am to 7.15 am and now possibly 8am or 8.15 am and over the years throughout these various start times at least 80% of my office has come in much earlier than the specified start times ranging from 15 minutes to over an hour, the millions RM must save with staff working for free ,management must be rubbing there hands together with these 8am + starts as they will fully know lots of staff will come in an hour early for free , and who's the first to moan when they collapse duties and give you more lapsing

We are currently 7.25 starts on short days, the DOM cant believe that half the office still come in at 6.
It's madness.

Myself and the very few others that start on time are praying that as these later starts are allegedly due to later arrivals that the mail actually does arrive much later so these clowns hardly have anything to do when they turn up early, currently some of them even start ips for free when they've got their mail in and it's still 30 minutes to start time.

This might sound daft but it would also stop the paid early sorting which fuels them and these days only benefits the people that are due on IPS, if you're stuck being told to fully prep lapsed duties before starting your own there's no advantage.

I wonder about the legality of this should something serious happen to one of these people who come in early. Could Royal Mail be in trouble for not stopping them starting an hour before or is it solely down to the staff member?

If the work is there ready to be sorted earlier than start time what would be the point in the start time changing to later?

Surely the reason for the later start is because the work isnt arriving till later than currently

One thing I've not seen mentioned anywhere is what RM's plans are for wave 1 dispatch times, if they will stay the same or also be made later by the same amount of time

Your starting the new start times come Monday? Are you still on 35hr weeks ? We're on 35hrs until the end of March now

From what I understand....the people who have kids to pick up from school can start at their current start time - their start times won't change....

So that surely means the post will be at the office at the normal time....

No idea how these people sort their IPS when there will only be a few on them in the office?

and also....if it is confirmed the parents who have kids to pick up from school can start at their normal times.... what is the actual reason why the rest of us have to start later?....

to annoy us and make us quit so they can replace us with cheaper labour?

I don't think you're right.

I think the official line is that RM and CWU are working towards a new "family friendly" policy, which probably means a process where you can put in an application for different start times.

You do have to wonder where these types of rumours start and when they do somebody doesn't just say "that's impossible as the post won't have arrived to be sorted".

Child friendly hours are probably another lie repeated by the CWU when they know they won't exist.

Your starting the new start times come Monday? Are you still on 35hr weeks ? We're on 35hrs until the end of March now

These are the new start/ finish times for everyone in the country from April or June or whenever they decide

Those early IPS sorters (overtime) really do piss me off the most, glorified strike breakers.

FT and PT are supposed to finish at same time for years
Park and loop FT and PT working together in your office? How the hell do you finish at different times??
