Bloody great! Had my first day in the DO yesterday and jeez, it was way better than I expected. From the complaints about things being so unorganised and the company being s**t, I have been sorely mistaken.

Our DO (or at least, my postcode within the DO as we are a rather large office) is really well organised and EVERYONE I spoke to couldn't sing our DOM's praises enough about how she's so accomodating and organized and legit the glue of the office. The vans are all electric, so not the clapped out combo's or partner's that I was expecting and the walk is actually pretty decent (although parcel volume is quite high) (a colleague had 58! yes 58! collections from a residential customer yesterday ).

Definitely feeling it in my legs this morning, so today will have to be taken a bit slower than yesterday, but I expect I'll get used to it after a while so yeah, I know I'm just in the door and still to fully understand everything and get chucked with loads that's nearly impossible to finish, but so far at least, other than my onboarder, my experience of RM has been great.

Delighted to watch a colleague driving home at 12:20 (in a Royal Mail van he keeps at home ) whilst i still had 2 hours delivery to go . . . Knowing that he had also signed for 3 hours docket that morning - so essentially leaving work 5 hours early!!!

Yes all of us are required to scan out in the office apart from him it seems. He gets home and takes the battery out of his pda, then switches it back on a few hours later and signs out of it.

Surprised the COM or their boss hasn't flagged up the time that the PDA is off for. There's no way in hell that there wouldn't normally be anything that needs scanning in that time

Ghost overtime really gets my goat. Why is nothing done about it? Especially now that there is SISO?! Now they can see that the people doing it are finishing at finishing time or earlier?!

And the argument that ‘no one will do overtime if they can’t ghost’, (said to my face), is so idiotic and lacking in foresight. These people are literally showing management how long their walks should be. That overtime would no longer exist if their walks were made longer.

But to be getting done early and booking til hours after your finish time is just madness. The DPR drivers are by far the worst at our place, paid til 3, done by 2 after doing a few extra bags off an uncovered duty and charging til 7pm!

And they can easily get away with it because they are one in a van and don’t scan consolidation for collection mail.

That's yet another example of piss poor management, easy fix, put one of the dpr drivers on the uncovered duty and share the parcels out between the rest then everyone works to time.

A woman had a right go at me today for not acknowledging her dog I wasn't even delivering to her she was walking towards me & the dog went all fussy & shakey tail, think it even laid on it's back, I apologized told her sorry I'm not keen on dogs, she went off on a right old rant
