HGV jobs -WISHAW OR EDINBURGH

Post by patpatpat »

Hello,

ive been a postie for near on 30 years now but im sitting my class 1 quite soon, the aim is to get a class 1 job within RM.

I'd obviously need to trasnfer from my DO and the nearest places are the big Distribution Centre at Wishaw or the Edinburgh Mail Centre.

How do i go about being informed of jobs available in these places? nobody in my DO seems to know

Are some jobs only advertised internally? How would i go about being kept informed of these?

any info or contacts are very much appreciated.

Thank You

Unfortunately I can’t give you any advice on internal job vacancies up that end of the country  I’ve been HGV driving (and 600) in the network and for Royal Mail since the mid 80s and it’s always been quiet straight forward once you’ve passed your hgv test up until this new academy they set up a few years ago and what I’ve witnessed is the tussle/fight between DO’s and voc’s to release the drivers after they have passed also you go into whatever voc/Mail centre at the very bottom of the picking order even below agency drivers (personally speaking I think that’s totally unacceptable fair enough going to the bottom or reserve list until a resign but below agency :thumbdown ) all I’m saying really is be prepared for aggro and best of luck with your test :thumbup :thumbup
