So if I know that someone is going to send me something that I don't want to accept, they know it too so they send it signed for so I can't deny that I've received it yet the postie signs for it and posts it through my door. I would be absolutely furious that I've not been given the opportunity to refuse it.

How has it come to the point where the postman thinks that they are the one who can sign for it?

I'll never sign for anything that looks like a birthday card ( due to a risk of claims that money has been stolen ) or something that is obvious from the return address is from an employer, bank, court, solicitor, council, police, energy company or debt collector ( due to what you say above - that the recipient may not want to acknowledge receiving the item

DWS was supposed to be used on very rare occasions i.e. people who can’t get to the door or have a disability. It wasn’t intended to be used by lazy posties who want to rush around not doing the job properly.

It was a poor pejorative to use in hindsight. People cutting corners by not doing the job correctly, I just don’t understand. As to ‘only signing for parcels’ this is still denying the service that the sender has paid for. They have sent the item requesting a signature from the customer, not the postie. Your contract is still with them ultimately and providing the service they have paid for. I remain unconvinced it is worth risking your job for.

My job is great thank you. I’m sorry you work (worked?) in one of the undoubtedly s**t ones out there, but your experience isn’t shared by everyone here. I’m not sure how it makes be a *cough* boot licker *cough* for suggesting you actually do your job correctly. People who rush around and sign for recorded deliveries, are the reason your (past?) duty has extra calls on it, so aim your anger at them not me.

As to slagging off the majority on here - nope. I’ve only every had an issue with a handful of people here, and it does tend to be “ex” posties more often that not, who seem to blame me for them not being able to hack it in the job for whatever reason. I have had a lot more support on here than abuse and am as happy posting here as I am working in my great office.

nothing serious, was removed from his duty to another walk on the same sector. Ended up a walk he preferred more anyway

I don't know why they don't just do away with signed for altogether if it fits through most letterboxes, take a photo instead.

ive had several special delivery letters miss the locker and come in my buddy boxes due to that cheap franking theyve decided to do. And they smudge in the rain so cant scan them

We found a couple of these franked specials on a frame today — at 1.30 pm! Managers only picked it up when running some sort of report and after frantically searching the locker.

it could be down to their value, I handed a JL package to one elderly customer and he thanked me for delivering his new iPhone, although not sure why Boots insist on signed for low value items.
