They can’t refuse you time off to attend but they don’t have to pay you either. Ask for a rest day swap, take holiday or unpaid leave. I had to take days unpaid leave last year for a day case appointment
Good luck 🤞

firstly i'm 6 months retired, so tell me its none of my business if you like, i can take it.
so what ever happened to family friendly employment and flexibility for child care etc. approachable managers that trusted you to be telling the truth and would try and swap your rest day or sort something out, compasionate, a/l or o/t etc. a lot of people cant take unpaid leave because the household budget is too tight anyway. and all the managers are under the cosh to whip the horses.
what the crap bags dont get, while sitting on a swivel chair with a coffee and a hobnob is that the job is physically and mentally hard anyway, so the likeliyhood of needing professional help is more and more present.
i saw a post on facebook where an opg had informed his manager that he needed to leave ON TIME the next day for an appointment, the manager asked him to provide proof of his appointment !!!!!!!!!
lastly, saw an old mucker today, out on delivery he said "your best out of it, the only word i can use is its "Brutal".

On a similar topic what about if you need a medical procedure that means u will need to rest for a week. I know before you would just go sick, is that still the case with the new rules?
