Meal Reliefs....

CWU think a review of M/R is needed. Way Forward is out of date with how RM is evolving.
I hope this isn’t going to go how I fear it is going to go.
I would hope it means dealing with the scheduling of breaks at the extremities of the ever extended duty span (right at the start or end) instead of being an actual breaking of the outdoor workload. I fear, too, it will instead be a change that leads me longing to drop dead on delivery for some respite.
Knowing Dave and his daft ideas, they’ll allow us M/R still but you will have to prep D2Ds during it.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

New executive seem to be willing to work with the union and conversations that have taken place intially have been possitive according to Martin Walsh.
They said this about Simon Thompson at first. Thompson was 'keen' to improve trust and the working environment..... then he did the opposite, ending up in front of a committee telling them lies.
It's all a load of toss, big dispute, changes get implemented, then they pretend to play nicely so the Union can ignore the losses they suffered, and the business can continue on, until the next set of changes they want.

I mean Terry Pullinger and Simon Thompson shared a zoom meeting before the last dispute, how ridiculous was that.

And Moya was invited to attend CWU conference wasn't she?

Postie's have a duty to look after the mail, if you left mail in the van it's possibly a conduct issue, or that's what the manager would tell you if you said that you were living the broken down van at the side of the road and going home!

But surely you would expect the manager to come out and you would leave the van once they get there, if you didn't want any overtime? If they can't be bothered to do that then they really shouldn't be managing in the first place. It would make for an interesting grievance to show how inflexible some managers are towards leaving the confines of their office environment. My view is that they are delivery managers and just like during the strikes they can also deliver parcels
That's never happened at my DO, plus if you breakdown on SA etc the managers have long gone, I've no idea what the company policy is for breakdowns?

There should always be a manager or supervisor available when staff are still working due to these issues. What if you had an accident in the van? If we don't report it there and then to a manager it's actually a conduct issue if you leave it until the following morning. Back on topic, things are likely to get much worse if these sort of 'incidents' happens given the later finish times.
Our managers are contactable by phone but that doesn't mean they are going to come back to the office and then sit with your broken down van. What if 2 vans broke down one manager couldn't sit in both vehicles?

There is more than one manager in our office!
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

98% of vehicles are parked up as well by 3pm. As the business needs to grow the only logical point is RM have to work later. An uncomfortable message but a factual one never the less.

If we start later the vans will still be on the road the same amount of time during the day… an uncomfortable truth for these cretins.

With later starts you sense vans will actually be used less, as nobody will be interested in doing any OT particularly in the winter months when they'll be expected to start it in darkness. In addition afternoon collections will have to be carried out as part of a duty rather than done after a duty has been completed.

You would think so. No bags on overtime or LATs when you’re getting back to the office at 4pm and even more cut offs.

Remember the days when things were enjoyable. Posties dug deep and helped eachother? What a cesspit it has become and yet weirdos still go in early
Imagine still running round skipping breaks thinking you benefit. All you are is an institutionalised zombie slave beloved of the higher ups who hate you :chuckle
Talk about pathetic :left:
I tune in now and then and still witness how much folk on here can’t function outwith the slavery. If my comment helps just one person I’m happy. GET OUT NOW before it’s too late and you are in a straight jacket 🧥

Or just treat it as a decently paid job like any other. Go in, work your hours and go home and forget about it.

Why would anyone go in early and work for free....I can only think of 2 reasons....

1. They are scared of being harassed by management, so do everything they can to complete, even if that means working free before their start time, after their finish time, and/or skipping their break.

2. They have OCD. They have to clear their job otherwise they start shaking uncontrollably and they won't be able to get the thought that they didn't clear out of their heads until the next day.

I don't do anything free, especially after the way I have been treated by management at times. Why would I. If management were friendly, helpful, fair, respectful, realistic.... then I'd go the extra mile....but too often they are the opposite of this to the point is it absolutely ridiculous, it's harassment, it's bullying....and at the end of the day - it's pointless. Harassing me wastes time with arguments, me going off with stress, it doesn't help anyone. I am not the type of person to give in to harassment and just bend over for managers by doing overtime, skipping my break etc... Their tactics don't work, they just cause more problems.

Management must be getting threatened with the sack from above otherwise why would they carry on the way they do? Unless they are complete arseholes which a few definitely are. It’s good fun getting them wound up at times.

I think these days they just do whatever they're told to do by higher up, as if they don't, chances are they'll just get moved on and another manager brought in to implement whatever it is.

I am the same, but unfortunately their tactics will work on others, so rather than cut off they cut corners, not take their breaks and complete each day, all so they don’t have to face an interrogation if they dare to cut off.
They don’t tend to question the lazy fcuckers who spend half the morning pi55ing about and still cut off on their easier walks. It also seems to be the ones who literally go the extra mile, extend and come in on their day(s) off that they dare to question if they won’t complete for some reason.
