Maybe RM realised it was a rubbish idea? Or maybe it was all just a dream.........

If we wanna bench merge, first all there'll have to be people on the IPS, secondly the mech trays need turn up at a reasonable time.

We can't merge if we've got nothing to merge.

Regrettably not , I heard from an area manager that “the senior people in this organisation think it’s a good idea” ,which should immediately raise a red flag , if that is the case then they are even more profoundly stupid than we imagined.

The “senior people in the organisation” also think it’s a good idea to force out long term staff so they can replace them with employees on inferior contracts, and are surprised by the outcome. More importantly, these people have no loyalty to the company, to them it is just another job on the gravy train.

This shite has been talked about for over a decade now. Don’t worry yourselves over it, it’s been trialled a million different ways and it will never be brought in nationally because it. Does. Not. f***ing. Work.
The suits in the ivory towers will continue to ask for it but it’s just a non starter. If it ever did get rolled out the quality of service crisis the company has had after recent revisions would look like Disney land compared to what bench merging could unleash.

I'm convinced the people who suggest this s**t think that everything we deliver is nicely presented all in the correct order, if that actually was the case it probably would be a bit silly to separate it all and then place it in order again in a rm2000 frame, back to reality unsurprisingly to everyone else, it isn't.

This makes me laugh, bench mergeing was an idea tried out under world class mail over 10 years ago. I was a union rep still at Royal mail back then and used timings and data to prove it wasn't as quick as using a rm 2000 frame. We had a whole project and presented our findings to senior management so they decided to adapt the frames to add extra wings instead. Just goes to show the lack of original thought in royal mail

Starbursting eventually had its decade in the sun in the form of Park & Loop. Perhaps if they retry Bench Merging for the upteenth time but with a new name it'll eventually catch on. RM3000?
The machine stops.

I saw a manager on Workplace asking for spare frames for trials he was doing.
In his bio it said something about bench merging.
They are determined to make it work
