NHS letters through the SD Locker

Looks like royal mail have decided to send all NHS letters through the SD Locker to make sure they get delivered. It was a temporary thing during COVID as obviously there was a lack of staff due to sickness & isolation, plus vaccination letters needed to get delivered. Now it seems it's a permanent thing due to walks being lapsed. Don't want the publicity of people missing their appointments I suppose

Well, that only leaves bank cards, credit cards, driving licenses...

Don't they just get extracted by the iLSMs/IMPs then run separately?

Yes they are brought into the locker to get put in with the specials. A couple of York's, full of bundles of NHS letters from the machines. My point is they are going to be treated like a special when they get to the DO's. I assumed they all used to be left when the walks were lapsed.

An prob still will be.late shift in our mc exactly how you explained but nobody told early shift so no change fs.

Out of all the crap that's surfaced recently one of the better options/ideas I think is to have a "premium" service for stuff that folk actually want to receive quickly, hell we've already got it, tracked 24, most of everything else could be the new std service, by ditching 1st/2nd class.

The boxes with them in just get taken to the manual letter/flatt box segging area and go with the other trays, just with an extra york header label.

Wouldn't be surprised if in 75%+ of DOs they'll still sit under benches not done.

My local hospital has stopped sending letters, they only send emails for appointments now.

We should in theory already have that , it’s called 1st and 2nd class but obviously Royal Mail is such a mess it can’t provide that service.

In our DO the sorting in the SD locker is so slow and inaccurate that the NHS letters are going to be done on dedicated frames on the IPS from tomorrow.

Feeling at our centre is that it's been put in place to help reduce the uso. Any questions regarding the impact on NHS appointments and Royal Mail can say a plan has been put in place to make sure these still get delivered.

Are the 'opg' locker duty holders really that bad at sorting?
