Odd minutes start and finish times
Can someone please explain the odd start and finish time as minutes please? 6.36 to 13.36 why not 6.30 to 13.30? That’s your 7 hour working day 5 days at 7 hours 35 hour contract. I dare say our pay is worked out by computer but easier for us to work our payslips out if it was 7am 6.30am etc and the 13.36 14.05 14.23 finish times etc

Re: Odd minutes start and finish times
I've asked this so many times since I started and have never had a satisfactory answer. Different places have slightly different times (some on 7's and 2's- 5.57-13.42, some start on the sixes,) but all I can think is it's an attempt at psychology. If start time is 6.30, most people will aim to arrive at 6.30, if the time is 6.27 some of the people will start at 6.25 and the company claws 2 precious minutes from them

Maybe it depends on the time the mail arrives at your office?

Re: Odd minutes start and finish times
Yeah I've no Idea why it has to be so precise, this 14 mins later from today has put us out again, although we've got to a stage now that it's a majority that start early, I heard one of the lads on Saturday saying he won't bother coming any later so that'll be over half an hour early for him from today, some of our most persistent early starting clowns run out of their own work well before start time so they start doing ips for free.

Ours were fine until seasonal variation,
Start at 7 or 715, finish at 2 or 3.
Start at 7 or 715, finish at 2 or 3.

Only have themselves to blame when more duties go , wouldn’t be tolerated in my office, where we also make sure everyone stops to take their break.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑22 Jan 2024, 06:34Yeah I've no Idea why it has to be so precise, this 14 mins later from today has put us out again, although we've got to a stage now that it's a majority that start early, I heard one of the lads on Saturday saying he won't bother coming any later so that'll be over half an hour early for him from today, some of our most persistent early starting clowns run out of their own work well before start time so they start doing ips for free.

Management know that two thirds if the workforce are retarded & changing the start & finish times confuses them, so they all turn up early

Its to try to bamboozle you so you make mistakes when claiming OT or don’t put any down cos you can’t be bothered to calculate it.

Re: Odd minutes start and finish times
I think it is so that management have somehow maximised every single minute of the working day. I mean why else have a start time at 7.29 instead of 7.30 or a finish time of 14.03 instead of 14.00. No other company does this.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
