Duties may get reduced. Pkts & parcels will be delivered on saturday. Vans must be utilised 24/7. Us on deliveries will not get saturdays off, we must not be seen to gain anything in our favour. Get the 2 yrs VR back and us old uns can buggar off.

Not sure it'll be that high as parcel deliveries will still be required on a Saturday, we were told it was 1/10 jobs, I'd imagine most offices will be oversubscribed with posties seeking VR? The bigger worry is if OFCOM suggest moving to alternative days deliveries within a further few years as that would lead to mass redundancies if it's introduced.

So the plan is a 90 days consultation, then I assume at least 30 days to consider matters before a report is produced and sent to the Government to consider, then another 30 days for them to consider it, so basically 6 months or so which takes us to the end of the summer, are the Government really going to want to make a decision with just a couple of months before a General Election they could well lose as reducing daily deliveries hardly sounds a vote winner!!

My fear is that ofcom approve a significant price increase in 1st class stamp, but at the same time OFCOM and RM find or launch a product that gets around the Saturday deluvery issue therefore making 1st lass stamps a premium product on Saturday that significantly reduces volume.
The reality is RM managed to persuade that donut ward that IHR and redundancy cash pots would be significantly reduced going forward along with going forward with loads of new contract posties who are rapidly increasing through recruitment and a shite job
and replacing previous contract posties .
At the same time donut Ward burnt any cash reserves that we could get with a small lump sum claiming some sort of perverse victory.That money could have bolstered IHR or VR pots for the job losses that are coming from a every other day USO as per Germany and France etc..
Thompson and his henchmen and women did there job and have been rewarded for it by major RM shareholders because are we likely to strike again? if the USO changes, jobs will be cut, is anybody going to vote for strikes again in the current workforce.
RM know that those at the top of the CWU need Royal Mail to survive...they know that Ward is more interested in power than the members and have manipulated him so, for personal their benefit.
A show of strength would have been a merger now and a rebrand...as.we're like a hermes union now no money, doing it on the cheap, and a brand no one trusts...
