My girlfriend applied for RM 3yrs ago and was told in the interview she would work 'occasional sundays'. She got the job and when she started , her rota was permanent Mon/Tue off and had to work every Sunday.
She rightly told them to stick it after a few days
Why lie in an interview.🤔🤔🤔
This is exactly what I have heard from two new starters.
They were told in interview that they would work 1 in 4 Sundays but are on a permanent Mon/Tue off.
This company stinks.

The exact same thing happened with 1-in-6 for two decades: reserves getting every Tuesday off and having to work every Saturday, which was especially objectionable when Saturday was a longer attendance. Nice to see that despite endless modernisation, there's some continuity with the past :so there
The machine stops.

Every Tuesday off, although you could be guaranteed Good Friday and Easter Monday as your rota’d day off before normal Tuesday service resumed.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Yes and yes you’re correct in your assessment
Given that all new recruits are now working Sundays, eventually there will be sufficient to rotate Sunday’s off, might be a while ahead though…I’m not sure they’re successfully recruiting enough newbies with the current offer….it’s about to be even less attractive with the minimum wage increase about to be implemented.

Why would it be less attractive? The new-contract RM wage for the South East will still be roughly 25% higher than NMW (£14.87 ph v £11.44 ph).

Outside of the SE there's around £1 per hour difference, there must be far easier jobs than walking 20K+ per day for the money.

Just looking at RM job ads in London and the South East.

A job in London is £14.58 an hour (1). A job in Woking (2) and a job in Medway (3) which are both in the South East and not a million miles from London are both £12.29. So the new contract rate of £14.58 only seems to apply to London itself and NOT the South East as a whole. After April 2023 2% rise, the standard postie rate will be £12.54 an hour and the minimum wage will be £11.44, meaning the standard postie rate will be around 9% above the minimum wage.
