Free Collections Extended Again!

This time until 31st of March. They may as well just make them free forever as they've extended this promotion more times than DFS must end Sunday bullshit. Will just mean more loops of mail taken back, luckily we're a parcel company now.

Walk I was on last week had a pick up for 32 items from one address. There was about 12 in the end, but they were really big boxes. Good job it was at the end of the delivery or we would have been able to get them in the van. Apparently , it`s a regular occurrance, and sometimes, the duty holder has to come out again specially to collect all the parcels. But we`re losing money hand over fist aren`t we?
DHL used to do these collections , but customer said they were crap. That`s as maybe, but I bet it because we`re FREE. £££££££

Don't forget that we were all key workers as well and should also check on the elderly and vulnerable, collecting and delivering food parcels and prescriptions. We might not make any money doing it but 'we own trust on the doorstep'.

Absolutely ridiculous have to collect from a customer who lives next to a post box

I picked up 50 today that all needed labels, customer told me he could put 10 on an order and did 5 separate orders. Big loophole exploited there!

If someone visited the PO to post a parcel, chances are they buy a drink, sweets, newspaper, milk, bread and so on.

I know we are separate know but they really need that income and it feels like RM are doing this on purpose ?

I had 5 collections today, of those only one actually had the parcel when I got there (and it was the right size, and next to the door ready which is a rare luxury.)
Yesterday I had 7 on a rural, one house had 9 "medium" parcels that were all 2x2ft boxes that weighed nothing but didn't fit in the van as they live on the first "loop" (not a real loop as it's a long rural-) therefore I had to go and empty my actual delivery before making the 9 mile trip back. When I finish my duty the manager tells me the customer called and complained that I had "refused" to take his parcels...

They can buy a drink, sweets, newspaper milk or bread when they go to post their Evri/Yodel/whatever parcel.

Classics when you go to collect a parcel:

"Can you wait for a bit I need to package it"...no....."can you come back later?".....no

"Oh, I took it down to the post office"..... then why TF did u book in a collection.

"Oh, that was collected yesterday"

or you scan the parcels and none of them are the ones on the PDA so you have to delete all the ones that are.

Revenue Protection apparently still exist because last month they boomeranged a very large packet that had been picked up on delivery. It was rejected, presumably at the MC, for being too big - that could be either relative to declared size or just absolutely too big to handle. It was of the size I'd expect Parcelforce to deal with, not us in our 2011 fleet of Combos.

I thought it was just some sort of issue with the system as what it states on the PDA is regularly not what the customer hands to me. I assumed most people are honest or can work out a letter from a parcel, or a small parcel from a large parcel.

It may also be the fact that I do not know what defines a small medium or large item....

But yeah, once I had 'large letter' on the PDA and was handed a very obviously large parcel....I didn't question it....I would have thought they'd have some way of checking these things once I bought the parcel back to the office....but maybe they don't.

We've had no training on what a small, medium, large parcel is, or been told to refuse letters/parcels that don't match up to what the PDA says.... so again, I guess it's Royal Mail lacking in revenue protection as they don't train us in this.
