Tax on holiday pay when leaving business.

Hi there I've just left royal mail after 36 years.l got my accrued holiday pay on Friday 157 hours I was taxed at 35% does anyone know if I can claim tax back cheers

Come April the Inland Revenue should pay out the excess tax you have paid, you should not have to apply.
You can apply for a tax refund if you are retiring or have no intention of working again now.
If you are entering new employment your tax will be reduced in the following wks to account for the overpayment.

Thanks for your reply JB 1969.i don't think I'll be able to work again as working for the royal mail has left me a mental and physical wreck. and I'm only 61.
