Wow, i have read abit of the first page and as a new starter I see nothing has changed in ten years! So far I think they only employ numbskulls as managers, low emotional intelligence dodo brains :Very Happy .

The job advert tricked me into the role and expectations changed at every step until I started work, wouldnt of joined if it told me of my actual duties and hours in the advert and this is before the azzole managers... i digress. I will be the thorn in their side till I leave, im not fighting for money its for principle - as long as I'm employed here. How dare they treat people like criminals (like im a burgular in their house) just for attempting to do a honest days work!

Ace, love it, lots of their actions are now coming back to bite them on the arse, for years they've automatically assumed they can get away with employing folk on low hours contracts that don't match the workload only for them to be desperate to do loads of overtime, same with practically bullying new starters as they're scared to lose their job, fast forward to now, new hourly rate not that much more than minimum (soon to be even closer) new starters that aren't desperate for the job so have started to "fight back" especially when they discover RM are that s**t they can't even advertise the job description correctly :chuckle

I admire you for trying to stick it out at your current office but it's clearly affecting you and your mental health and wellbeing. If things are really that bad and a few so called friends/colleagues now giving you problems and avoiding you, have you thought about asking for a transfer to another delivery office like constance did? It's not easy when you work in toxic workplaces and maybe you would just be better off making a fresh start elsewhere.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Social exclusion, ignoring, is really difficult to deal with. Unless a manager has experienced it themselves, they probably will struggle to understand why it is bullying.
A chap at my work was off with anxiety for several months (I don’t know what kicked it off but have a feeling it was sly comments by the office nice guy), and instead of returning to the office straight away, he would meet his work partner out at the walk and not come into the office at all. Then after a few weeks he came back into the office. So he was eased back in.

This could be a way for you to return without facing them all straight away.

Biggest bullies are management it's like a domino effect were d/o manger will tell us there manager has put pressure on them to scan all tracked all parcels should be treated the same including letters ,about our speed indoor and out about speaking even sometimes about going to toilet ,waiting at loop for your partner even though you preparing for next loops or even delivering packets near the loop which they do not see .Also d/o manger seem to be scared to stand up to there manger in case they get replaced by a manger that they think would do a better job than them..please postman and managers tell if I'm wrong or does it just happen in my office. If I have a problem with something in my office I try to resolve it in house maybe a couple of times if it's not serious.but if that doesn't resolve it I will say to there face ill go over there heads and see what happen then.

Trouble is these days it seems like if a manager doesn't get something done, force something through or do as instructed by their boss, they'll just get moved on and replaced with a manager who will. I wonder if the level of management above the COMs also have the same problem with their own managers

Definitely line managers just do as they are told and put the pressure on posties so they can get a grubby bonus. They don’t want to stand up to their managers for fear of being replaced by yes men.

Our boss threw his toys out of the pram today ,they must realise now most posties dont care less nowadays,by hammering posties day in day out they now have a demotivated workforce who will only do the bare minimum, most posties just laugh at these bosses nowadays with steam coming out of their ears.

From this months Outdoor Bulletin
Think it deserves it's own thread.
Maybe even a stickie.
Now's your chance to make yourselves heard.

In recent months there has been an increase in the number of reports/queries coming into the department regarding bullying and harassment of our members in delivery offices. Stories of members feeling intimidated on a regular basis with most of this centring on members being forced to work beyond their time in order to complete deliveries or being accused of under performing or being slow. This type of approach will not be tolerated and we are currently gathering evidence from around the Country to raise this with Royal Mail at the highest level. If you have been or are subject to this or know someone who has or is please let the dept know by letter, or phone call or preferably by email to outdoorsecretary@cwu.org
Bob Gibson – CWU Assistant Secretary Outdoor
This is still happening, so I had no choice but to resign. CWU needs to look at this again by infiltrating the employment equivalent of a secret shopper into all DOs and not telling anyone.
