Post Office Scandal - What effect could it have on Royal Mail?
The Post Office is in disarray and you have to say it’s future looks uncertain.
It’s name tarnished and with expensive legal bills to come these problems add to an already struggling business model.
Yet whilst the Post Office is an entirely separate business to Royal Mail, there is still a strong link and interdependencies between the two companies.
Indeed Royal Mail’s name and logo featured quite regularly in today’s inquiry evidence, including discussion surrounding the use of a parcel lift at a Liverpool sorting office!
So the obvious question is - what sort of knock on effect will this scandal have on Royal Mail?

It won`t be good, even though we have been separate entities for a good while. A lot of older members of the public still think we are one and the same thing. (Some younger too)

The only knock on effect we could wish for..... they decide to have a good look at how the business is run and the legal obligations it must adhere too.
And if they can't/won't adhere to them, make them do it, i don't care if they go to a 3/5 day USO, it has to be physically possible to be done in the duty span over 3/5 days.

More scrutiny in the sector is a good thing as it will hopefully mean companies like Royal Mail and The Post Office have more eyes on them and people notice when they aren’t fulfilling their responsibilities.

Looking at what's happening regarding this horizon s**t, please mark my words the same will be happening with the liikes of Vince Cable, simon Thompson etc need I go on, in about 10 years. Does it not sound similar when managers are telling delivery staff, no one else as this problem when you cant complete

As I said before, the IB overlooked what management were doing. And still are.
I doubt they will be held to account. Keith Williams actions needs investigating, but I doubt they will be .

According to Wikipedia it was April 2012 when the Post Office got split off into a separate company.

Does anyone know how big that parcel lift is in the Liverpool D/O,that was mentioned by that horrible investigator. Was he telling the truth or lying to the committee?

And, as "management issues" aren't in their remit, they always will.
Anyway, the IB staff have been severely cut back, so much so that they have trouble chasing thieving posties let alone worrying about dopey managers fiddling the figures.

Re: Post Office Scandal - What effect could it have on Royal Mail?
Management issues as you call them, were and used to be in there remit, it was everything within wrongdoing within the postal service.
It's not about dopey managers fiddling their figures, although it should be and used to be. It's about corruption within the group. And that is endemic.
