Unless deliveries starts are all delayed by at least a couple of hours then there's no way LATs can go out with the daily post.

At present ours don't turn up until mid day having arriveed at the MC around an hour before we receive them at our DO.

Surely they will just create a new twilight shift of dedicated LAT drivers rather than foist it on the posties on walks, who in the vast majority of cases (at my office anyway) have no/very limited capacity for any tracked. RM seems keen to build the LAT customer base and numbers of LAT parcels, and the numbers do seem to be steadily increasing on the ground, even in quiet January, and it will need to build up the workforce accordingly.

Digressing slightly, our main LAT shuttle didn’t get to the DO until 3.45 pm today. It is normally one-ish that it arrives. Don’t know why it was so late. Thankfully there was hardly anything on the lorry — which was a big difference to the 160-odd items we were promised/threatened with by the managers!

Yeah, it makes more sense to retain a dedicated LAT duty, and have any early finishers mop them up, rather than delay the entire office going out on delivery. That makes no sense. Stranger things have happened mind you.

I think that'll eventually happen. No need for extra staff then in either the MCs or DOs. Once LATs pick up enough they might get posted direct to the superhubs

They are indeed! It seems even quite a few letters are sent T24 or T48 for quicker delivery.

You’re right, I do mean mainly oversized tracked. But that said, there are at least 10 walks in my office which every day have all tracked and reg items, small and oversized, taken off the dutyholder and given to a packets driver to do separately. They aren’t lapsed walks or anything like that so not sure why it’s that way. Most of the items are postable! Sadly us new lot rarely get to cover them.

That's something only the rest of us can dream about, just delivering mail with no need to knock on customers or neighbours doors and then write out 739's if they are out.
