National Insurance has been reduced today, from 12% to 10%
Has anyone worked out how much extra will be in their take home pay next Friday?
for a full time postman about £4.80

A year in April and the current protections end.
Can't see the CWU/us putting up the fight we just did again in 16months.
Another reason the deal was so poor.

Just been talking to my friends daughter who has a PT job waiting on tables in a coffee shop. She told me most of her friends and herself are all earning minimum £11.50 an hour and they are all 18. All uni students and even Macdonalds are not far away from our wage. lol 😝

Good for them. Companies should be paying lower paid workers more.

Yes, so the new contract rate will go up as well to £12.54

(Minimum wage also increases to £11.44 for over 21's)
The way this “so called” union negotiates,we be min wage in 2-3 years max 🤯
What is the benefit in joining the company today when you see that wage comparison?
There is none, which might be why the new gaffer is easing off in ramming through change that will force the legacy contract posties out. They cannot retain staff on these new crappy contracts, so making the old guard leave makes no sense right now.

Remember Simon Thompson? He gave us an hour off our working week and the Union thought things were changing for the better. He even staged a video with Terry as though we were working in harmony. Then the s**t hit the fan.
Was it the big shareholders who forced his hand?
Forget Simon Thompson..
It is and was Keith Williams who is the puppet master.
He was with BA , he's still there with the railway workers, closing ticket offices, getting rid of platform staff. And he is still here with us doing the same.

Yep, it was Keith Williams who was in charge of BA when they introduced cabin crew on inferior terms and conditions. At Royal Mail, senior board members were brought in to do the dirty work while he is still in charge pulling the strings. He dodged a bullet in the Select Committee when he said that Royal Mail were making record losses and Simon Thompson was made the scapegoat as his pay as CEO was linked to 'shareholder value' and he took the bait and received a decent bonus for giving most of our profits away.

But paying more for a worse service is what privatisation does. Royal Mail increase the price of 1st class stamps to £1.25 but we are expected to deliver them much later in the day, if at all, and can't afford to have a Saturday post. And regarding the Williams-Shapps plan for the railways we have the most expensive trains in Europe but apparently can't afford to have ticket offices.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

need to renegotiate the 2024 rise - the 2% rise should never have been agreed nearly a year in advance, nobody, not even treasury boffins know what inflation will be in 10-12 months time - we should be getting at least 4% and probably 5% in April
