Re: Start Times
MC's will be the 15 mins it will be trialled to see how it goes then by end of june they will have an idea of how its working, not forgetting the closer our lorries start moving after 6am the traffic will have a massive impact on start times with our diesel lorries stuck pumping out emissions killing the commuters

That is fair, but as mentioned above by Nick, it does sum up the broader issue in RM right now. There is such a divide between offices. It should be run as one uniform business not the almost franchise-level enterprise we have now.

Re: Start Times
The clocks changing every year is primarily due to the impact of limited winter daylight in Scotland. Are the SNP not applying pressure here given the potential threat to adequate postal services in Scotland? The whole, "oh, it only really impacts Scotland and they're out of the way and don't really matter" attitude, quite rightly, never goes down well with them!

Re: Start Times
I mostly agree but regarding this issue unless Royal Mail invent a teleportation device they are physically limited on arrival times into all the separate DO’s. We all already have varying start times because of it.LouBarlow wrote: ↑05 Jan 2024, 05:28That is fair, but as mentioned above by Nick, it does sum up the broader issue in RM right now. Re: Start Times
That would mean that both wave 1 and wave 2 dispatches would be 2 hours later, with deliveries starting 2 hours later as a result
They can dream on if they think it'll be just 15 mins later, a absolute minimum of 60mins is more realisticguardianangel wrote: ↑05 Jan 2024, 05:26MC's will be the 15 mins it will be trialled to see how it goes then by end of june they will have an idea of how its working, not forgetting the closer our lorries start moving after 6am the traffic will have a massive impact on start times with our diesel lorries stuck pumping out emissions killing the commuters![]()

Re: Start Times
It's £14.58 for London not £14.60. And that's the new contracts. I'm still on here as I m a shop steward at DWP. So I like to see what's happening in other work places, especially at one I know so well. You sound a bit of a wind up merchant but if that's your thing then crack on.Smoothbackground wrote: ↑19 Dec 2023, 18:42Switch profiles?mwalker88 wrote: ↑19 Dec 2023, 18:06LMAO. Okay then. Did you forget to switch profiles?Smoothbackground wrote: ↑19 Dec 2023, 18:05But yet your daily postings to the forum and your general obsession with RM show you definitely haven’t moved on. You still love Roy, don’t you? You should return to him asap - of the new “shitey” contracts is surely a small price to pay! Would be great to have such an experienced pair of feet back. If anyone can steady this sinking ship…mwalker88 wrote: ↑19 Dec 2023, 17:2816 years I was in the job (quit for a Mon-Fri and better money.)
Sequenced trays make about 5min difference in prep time for someone who's prepped a frame for more than a fortnight.
I still post on here because I know the majority of good people at RM are better than the utter shitshow it has become.
I have moved on. I'm physically and mentally healthier than I have been since 2007, so thanks for your concern.![]()

Enjoy your Saturday and Sunday shifts this week for just above minimum wage pay![]()
You are prone to exaggeration, pal. £14.60 an hour is well above NMW (£10.42 per hour). I’m no good at working out percentages, but it’s way more than NMW however you look at it. Today I earned £173 working one of my rest days. I’m more than happy with what I earn, thanks. How much do YOU earn an hour in your new role, and what is your new role? We’re all itching to know! Roy misses you and still loves you, and he says he will have you backk — but on his terms![]()

These people quibbling about "15 mins" are in for a BIG shock.
There will be despatches to DO’s throughout the night and there will be work to prep into frames, but the last inward despatch from the MC will be around 07:45 - 8am.
So maybe the DO’s won’t actually move the whole 2hrs, they are probably still prepping their frames at 8am currently? they just get another tray or 2 of mech and some packets.
Does ALL the work really need to be in the DO for 6am as now? why cant some it turn up an hour or so into frame prepping time?

Re: Start Times
Although the ad did indeed advertise the job at £14.58 per hour, my payslip actually pays it at £14.61. To corroborate what I’m saying, here is a screenshot of my payslip. Please advise who is right, you or me? Looking at the attached payslip, what is the hourly rate? Why am I a wind-up merchant? PS: I’m not in London either.Navalron wrote: ↑05 Jan 2024, 15:30It's £14.58 for London not £14.60. And that's the new contracts. I'm still on here as I m a shop steward at DWP. The snp would probably blame Westminster or scotland being dragged out the e.u for limited daylightnuisance wrote: ↑05 Jan 2024, 05:34The clocks changing every year is primarily due to the impact of limited winter daylight in Scotland. How can some offices be trialled and others not as if flights are stopped then the post is going to arrive later at all the offices, not just the ones local to MC's?guardianangel wrote: ↑05 Jan 2024, 05:26MC's will be the 15 mins it will be trialled to see how it goes then by end of june they will have an idea of how its working, not forgetting the closer our lorries start moving after 6am the traffic will have a massive impact on start times with our diesel lorries stuck pumping out emissions killing the commuters![]()

We've been told our DO is likely to start 1 hour later when the later starts are introduced but I doubt they've taken into consideration it takes at least 15 mins longer to drive from the MC to our DO at 7.30/8am rather than the present 6:30/7am.

That's London sorted again then.Clappedoutpostie wrote: ↑04 Jan 2024, 16:31Progress has been made in negotiations with Royal Mail over the issue of later starts and finishes.
Hundreds of offices will now only move up to a maximum of 15 minutes. Those offices will move their start times in April 2024.
All other offices will move their start times by the end of June 2024.
Local CWU officials and Royal Mail managers will also be double checking the information provided nationally prior to any changes.
The full list of start and finish times for every office will be issued in February. At this point the exemptions process will also open.
National Officer Mark Baulch will give a full update on the discussions that have taken place at the joint working group next week in an extended interview.
