If you’re not properly staffed then it makes no difference when you take annual leave mails gonna fail either way no? And as for swapping weeks that’s what happens in most lines of work without set holidays. The annual leave has never really changed we all knew how it worked from the start.
My point wasn't really about swapping weeks but the fact that all our annual leave hasn't actually been allocated this time round to swap!! Maybe this might due to the seasonal variations that Royal Mail have introduced as leave is now based in hours rather than days??
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Allocated or not if you’re short staffed it’s not likely to matter. As I’ve done in the past, book a holiday and then go in and say I’m away X week, got a deal I cldnt turn down. With seasonal hours tho you do get more bang for your buck so maybe it’s a deliberate stalling tactic

Annual leave has been done in hours ever since RM introduced PSP

A few have tried that one but I prefer to do things by the book. Supposed it depends how reasonable the COMDOM is to let you do that.

Absolutely, but if you’re one of the worlds against me mob from on here there’s no chance of Dom being accommodating

And if you're one of the brown-nosed, docket chasing, jobs for the boys type then there's every chance of the DOM being accommodating.
Is this thread going round in circles?? It is possible that annual leave could be refused even if you have already booked an all-inclusive holiday somewhere exotic. Then what? I don't take chances like that as it could lead to a load of problems. Like I said, I do everything by the book and its served me well in my time at Royal Mail

quite right, why book an expensive holiday without been given the time off, only once were our holidays late in getting confirmed, late jan, and i was on it saying i'm booking for the summer and tough if it leaves you 1 short, my 5 weeks for 24/25 are all sorted and can't see the issue in forward planning.
only exception was during that virus thing going around when family weddings etc had to be altered

You just can’t talk to some people, scared of losing a job none of you want keep on rocking

It would be rather stupid to lose a job this way though. We all have a bit of a whinge on here about the job going t*ts up because most of us remember when it used to be an amazing job that we all felt great about doing.

Does make me laugh that there isn't a set annual leave plan across the whole of RM.. But that said all the annual leave requests are done by our DOM support who is also one of our union reps and she is amazing. 99% of the time if its possible she will do it.. obviously some times it's not possible to take all requests. But for an understaffed office we are lucky to have a great support..
