Has everyone else had their holiday picks yet?

We still haven't had the opportunity to pick our 4th Week, it's almost January FFS!

I'm restricted to Scholl hols, and flights are going through the roof!

I don't know of any other company, but that have such a s**t approach to booking AL!

A lot of other companies don't require you to book holidays anything up to 18 months in advance.

Thankfully our Dom support does the leave and he's pretty much on the ball with it so ours was completed by November which I think is still late I thought it was supposed to be done by October, anyway I know what you mean, the prices for school holidays have become a fkin joke we've just booked a week all inclusive in August, it's nothing flash, mainland Spain, family of four, 3 grand, but as I imagine we all do I really need something to look forward to.

People really need to have a look at how they interact with senior management if you’re struggling to book holidays. If a com or Dom won’t accommodate an already booked holiday maybe have a look at your attitudes

Dont you pick all your weeks in one go?

I don’t get it. You book your holidays a year in advance or more then when holiday time comes we’re short staffed anyway so the advance planning goes out the window.

It will all be ballsed up again in the new year anyway. Different rotation weeks off to what you had this year.

Are senior managers allowed to speak to the serfs?? I was under the impression that they only ever communicate with the managers that they are charge of. As for holidays, they are yours and you should be able to take them when you want; not when the business dictates that you can only take them when they want. If we were properly staffed in the first place then this issue wouldn't be such an ongoing problem at Royal Mail.

What usually happens regarding annual leave is that we put down the weeks that we want and then organise it ourselves by going round swapping weeks with other posties afterwards. But its a problem this time because we haven't been allocated all our weeks leave!

Our office allocates you 4 weeks of your allowance then you have to beg others to swap so you can actually get a week off you need. Bullshit system.

Supremely lazy it seems. Don't think we have a union rep but it does need sorting.

So far, we've only been allocated our first 2 weeks of next year's AL. We submitted our request forms for the 3rd and 4th weeks before the end of October. Last week, our COM said that he hadn't had time to even look at them yet.

If you’re not properly staffed then it makes no difference when you take annual leave mails gonna fail either way no? And as for swapping weeks that’s what happens in most lines of work without set holidays. The annual leave has never really changed we all knew how it worked from the start.
