It was pre - Christmas week mental today. Not much post but stupid amounts of packets and over-sized. Bored people buying stuff they didn`t get at Christmas. Day off tomorrow thankfully. Not in til Tuesday. :nana

Letters were down massively over Xmas pressure both mech and manual. I can't see them picking up until around March when companies start sending out end of financial year type stuff

Packets and Tracked were also well down. Normally during Xmas pressure there's always work on hand. This year there were times when just about every section was scratching about for work.

Doesn't fully account for the big drop in traffic, even if you exclude any direct ones from the hubs

Was told today by a manager that it was a ‘record making Christmas’ for Royal Mail, in terms of profit. Make of that what you will…

There certainly seems to be more parcels this year than last year. Yes, our duties are bigger but the strikes last year took away quite a lot of business.

I had 34 big parcels to deliver to today. In previous periods after Xmas I would be lucky if I had any in double figures.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
