Rota'd day off change

Post by garrilla »

Manger just did this in our office.

Moved lots of people's DO for next week to Tues, so he has a full staff through the week.

Annoyingly my DO should have been Sat.

Puts me in a bit of a pickle, as following week is my AL and I booked to go away from Fri night, assume my Day Off pattern would persist.

Not sure what the situation is now, until Weds.

Any thoughts?

Surely if you're on your own duty they shouldn't change it, have they actually told everyone involved or did you just happen to notice, in any case didn't you say I've got a holiday booked ?

I'm a reserve.

I noticed as I was leaving yesterday when I checked the rota.

I made the assumption that my DO would be on the rota pattern it's been for months.

He’s changed people’s day off who don’t have a permanent duty?

They always seem to do this on Xmas week probably expecting plenty of sick.

I'd stick with that assumption, surely they should have informed you all rather than noticing for yourself, wonder when they're planning on mentioning it, make sure you're ready to say I've booked a hotel assuming I was on the ongoing rotation day off.

RM won't be happy until they have you at their beck and call 24/7. 5hitty way to treat employees by arch charlatans.

I always find the busiest spells in delivery is when we have to make up for a proceeding bank holiday...it creates a bottleneck... next week Twixmas will be busy to catch up on those two days we've had off. Managers will want every all resources available especially with increased sickness.

Had this last year, all holidays booked in line with my Saturday off - then day off gets changed following a revision. All holidays 2024/25 booked in similarly, will be double pissed off if they do this again, with rumours of another revision this year. They can still honour your holidays, but just be bloody annoying. Fingers crossed 💣

not quite sure how days off rota works these days, if duty/cover it simply cannot be changed because it will alter the average hours worked, but don't know how they police our reserves, none at my d/o are bothered if they are doing an hour or 2 more or less to check when i ask, some do say they get quite few tues off which will alter their weekly shifts but without knowing their exact shift, new contracts make it even harder
