If that's the case then wonder why they treat them with such contempt, or are they just relishing the fact that there isn't and never will be any competition so they are free to do whatever they want.

yes, considering they have put stamp price up aswell it doesnt seem as much a waste. They themselves have cheapened mail delivery

But is that revenue or profit? If 3.7 billion revenue from letters but associated costs are 3.5 billion (or higher?) and 4.8 billion from parcels but associated costs are 2 billion (?) - which side of the business would you be focusing on?

Revenue. And it has been suggested that getting rid of Saturday letter deliveries would save RM £225 million

Just imagine how much they would save if they delivered letters just 3 days a week. It's a potential money-spinner. What Royal Mail don't like is the regulation regarding the letters. They don't like being tied to a 6 day USO and they don't like downstream access that allows our competitors to cream their profits by processing mail that we can do ourselves.

If you watch the video, its not been lost that the company keep pushing up the price of postage yet at the same time want to reduce the service. The only reason it makes sense is so that RM can make bigger and bigger profits even though they continually remind us that the business is loss making.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

there is currently a 3 day USO at best if you are flipping 2 frames as a pairing, as an efficient up to date pairing
