Seasonal hours fiasco

If the seasonal variations adds up to 30 hours owed wouldn't it just be better to give us an additional week off in the summer instead?

I would rather work 37 hours instead of 35 in the summer if that's the case. At least we would have more time to complete our duties and make sure all the mail that we have on a 6 day USO is delivered....

True. But I do recall the business suggesting that seasonal variations would allow more staff to have time off in the summer when it would be less busy. Often this is the time of the year when we have lapsing and even though they want to reduce this, they haven't promised to take it away completely. Its a good little money spinner for the company not having to staff duties.

I'm sure that lapsing was originally introduced to fill our time in summer when it got quiet, that in turn enabled more leave slots, well that was the theory I suppose I must have dreamt it after all as it never happened at our place.
