Shell and Bp, steady divi payers but I sold up my Shell at £26.70 and brought Easyjet @£4.21. so far not a bad move but oil will always be needed at least for the next 25 yrs so you should be ok. I worked bloomin hard for royal mail to get the money to invest in cash and shares in order to buy my freedom at 51 this year. No regrets so far.

Just be aware of 5yr fixed rate bonds and when they pay the interest. If all at the end of the term you may be in trouble regarding the £1000 limit.

I've stayed within the margins. Only put £2,500 in each fixed rate, so I know it wont return more than £1,000 Best I've got so far is 4.81%.

If you're not already, get on the MSE forum (Martin Lewis money saving expert) you'll pick up loads of great tips on how to maximise what you have. My tip to early retirement is never think any amount is too small to bother with. It all adds up. Marginal gains and all that. A few great bank switch deals on too. Have made over £3k between me and my Mrs over the last ten yrs doing that. Good luck.
