RMCtv : MISSORTED ITEMS VOLUMES

Post by POSTMAN »

Glasgow Mail Centre

Today I am returning over ONE HUNDRED missorted items from Glasgow Mail Centre.

What QC checks are being applied against the sorting of these items? Are people trained who are sorting?

If delivery was misdelivering over 100 items per day their would be serious questions asked!

Bitterne:same here ..its unbelievable
Skipton:Same at Skipton too from Leeds MC
Bournemouth:We are getting specials everyday now in ordinary mail ,reported it yesterday still the same today
Troon:In total this week we’ve had in the region of twenty Yorks, intended for us, wind up elsewhere; it’s having a huge knock on effect in terms of our ability to deliver. On two days this week we’ve essentially taken a double hit on packets.
Uttoxeter:Same here at our small office, Uttoxeter. Also, the York full of missorts are causing further problems to the person who has to manually handle all these items to be sent to the larger office to be manually handled again to go to the Mail Center

@SpacePhoenix-Sort your bredrins out!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Loads of Xmas causals this week, probably most of the missorts will be by them.

SDs mixed in with normal mail has been the norm from outward MCs to inward MCs. The difference now is that the Xmas casuals will just sort them to whatever office it is.

What colour are the labels on the yorks?

Why always blame the casuals i personally blame most of the regular staff.as the work gets more the more missorts or done have never hid behind casuals being the problem..so you have no missorts all year round then??

Well over half the time all year around it will have been sorted by a casual. Won't be too long before we're outnumbered by the casuals. We can sometims have half, if not more of the packet setups with casuals sorting on them.

Around half of all MCs have got PSMs so the missorts there are most likely done by the machine.

If the label is purple and white then it's a direct york from one of the superhubs. They get wheeled off the artic straight to the relevant loading bay

Whatever happened to not been allowed on the sorting until you passed a sorting test?

30+ years ago it seems to have worked really well.

These days in MC's there is no training and never ever ever new staff just more Casuals. Royal Mail do not even give them the basic Induction of where Fire Exits Toilets and Tea Machines are(Which no doubt for H & S purposes they are legally obliged but as always Laws don't apply to this Company). Royal Mails Grand Plan from next week at our MC is to move the staff that are on Tracked all year onto Letters Mech and the Locker so it will be nothing but Usual/Xmas Casuals on Tracked so anyone thinks the sorting is bad now wait until next week

Wish they did that, but no tests just a trainer to tell them and watch them for a few days.

Be nice to go back to a time where you were tested for each area.

So true. A few days ago, I watched a manager hurriedly explain a super complicated sorting thing to a bunch of casuals in about five minutes and then run off.

Mail your stuff now.

Only 100 - that's an average day for me. Today it was not quite as bad but I got 3 for Scottish Post codes, 1 for Kent and one for Cornwall.
I know Leeds and Huddersfield are near the centre of the UK but we don't deliver to the whole country.

My bet is the York/s those missorts came out of are Directs from the Superhubs it will have a purple and white half and half label on it with your offices name on it

There's no training for new agency staff who turn up at our depot for delivery either. They often don't know how to use the PDA which I suppose is to be expected. For many of them English is not their first language so there are often a few communication problems as well. We have a few of them doing parcel deliveries and they are bringing many full Yorks of Tracked items back undelivered even though they are working till 7pm.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Nope, the Hub ones are usually pretty accurate now after a ropey start - it's the white-label ones coming directly from Leeds MC.

When the Hubs started we once had to send 19 yorks back, but they seem to have settled in well now.
