Well it looks like my time has come to depart after 25 yrs service , 23.5 of them being quite enjoyable.

I'll miss most of the lads n lassies, some I certainly won't! and most of my customers and Dogs!

Im feeling the happiest I’ve felt for years tonight. I had an interview 4 weeks ago and heard nothing. Just sitting here tonight and the phone has just rang offering me a second interview and telling me, off the record we liked you a lot. I’m in a daze after 37 years of hard graft with no appreciation I might finally be out of this life sentence. Never thought it would come to this. I thought I was here for life. Never give up and wish me luck. If I can do it, anyone can.
What was once a great job that has been totally destroyed to the point of no return. I give it 5 years tops. I really can’t see this as a long term career for anyone.

It's quite a surreal feeling isn't it! I too had a second interview Fri just gone, said they would let me know today and I thought it's getting late all gone home now and no news, thinking ah well never mind keep trying and lo and behold I get a text msg offering me a formal contract of employment!

It's an absolute travesty what has happened to this once great public service who I loved working for, all gone now and only going to get worse and worse, sad times.

Good luck to you, I am certainly a lot happier after getting out in September after 25 years as well, the best decision I ever made no regrets.

It takes a lot of guts after being in a routine for so long, however you will find that once you finally get out, you'll ask yourself why you didn't do it years ago.

I too left last Thursday after 34 years . Taking early retirement.as I have had enough.
Sad it has come to this as I was once proud to work for rm . The manager had made no attempt to persuade me to stay or thank me for all the years i have gave to the job in fact all I have had is acknowledgment of my resignation letter . They just don't care about anyone . I know it will take some adjustment to get used to not doing what I have done for the last 34 years .but I know I have done the right thing . The job will only get worse .

I've been gone nearly 6 months after 36 years in the job.
It took me a while to adjust and at first I did have a few doubts whether I'd done the right thing.

But now the dust has settled and I'm into my new routine, I have no regrets whatsoever.
