Finally absolved myself from 'the business' specifically 'Delivery' 20 years at RM, genuinely a weight off the shoulders, literally and figuratively.

Thank f***

Best of luck to all my (ex)work colleagues) Delivery posties are absolute Troopers! worst job I've ever had the misfortune to work. Good luck

Carrying mgmt, good luck for the future. What are you going to be doing if you don’t mind me asking?

Got back from time off to 2 (heavy) days worth of mail.

Got told to take it all out and "do what you can".

Brought nearly half of it back.

Generally rainy.

Surely it is possible that someone could have called us all back to the office earlier today given the atrocious weather forecast ?

I thought revisions were meant to be on hold? Our latest one started this week and the office is a mess. Duties that were already 1-2 hours over had extra added. Christmas will be a disaster, no bulk relief or delivery assist. It's like Royal Mail wants us to fail miserably.

1 york for my buddy duty to deliver, 1 york for my duty to deliver. Almost every door for mail. 1 hour 30 mins over. A couple of 'you're late, postie' comments and some agro for being "late" to a customer collect.

Brand new duty tomorrow, and I'll be refusing OT. Hope they've got a plan in place.

Rained again.

What a lovely day....the local taxi firm decided to deliver a business card to every address on the first half of the delivery, no problems there, however by deliver I mean tuck it into the letterbox flap.

I finally got the first half done, they’d obviously decided not to target the second area. No, that was left to a charity who’d then tucked their collection bags into each flap.

I hate littering but I don’t have enough hands to be removing said item, lifting the flap, putting through the letter (or parcel, with photo of course) then placing back the card/bag. They are now flying all over the estate.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

I once phoned the taxi company tucking flyers in letter flaps & opened with I’m PC (make your own name up) told him about a fine for littering the estate, said he’d sort it, paid some students for the job.

Switched to canoe share for the damper parts of the delivery.

I do feel like we're doing their job for them. They seem to purposely put the bag/leaflet just inside the box and wait the postie to push it home like it's coming from RM. I try to push the letters around the item but sometimes just give up and "deliver" it myself and let the letters push it through.

Back in the day when I had a conscience, before RM ground it out of me, I'd 'deliver' all the sticking out leaflets/flyers. Now I lift the letterbox flap up and if blows away - tough. If it's half in and will push through with the mail without any extra effort - fine. If it's a troublesome sort that's costing me time then I just rip them out and leave them on the floor - tough. i don't care any more, which is sad really as I hate littering as a concept.

We did job and knock today, I finished very early. I’ve never seen the yard empty so quick to get out. :nana

There was a bit more work than I actually wanted today, but we got it all done and now i feel a massive sense of relief. That's 20 Christmases for me now and I don't wish to do any more.
