I love spending 45 minutes looking for a trolley that works, and bags, then finding the bags have no loops, so then you hunt for cable ties... etc etc. You A-Team together some shoddy rig, load your (probably overweight because the bag weighing machine doesn't work) bags onto the trolley with no hooks and a wonky wheel that keeps collapsing, then get crap off the manager for bringing stuff back because you wasted so much time just trying to get out. You ask for new equipment and get to enjoy a verity of very low-IQ excuses as to why you can't have the equipment you depend on to get the job done.

Once out in the sideways rain you get to enjoy abuse and unreasonable demands from customers for stuff you've no control over but who are also too ignorant/stupid to listen and understand reason, and feel fully entitled to forcing you to place your job security on the line for their minor convenience.

Most of al I love being a comedic chew toy for people with no control over their dogs, the fulfilling sound of their laughter as their dog attacks you, as your bloodstream is filled with adrenaline, the anxiety in your brain from the magical stream of cortisol that prepares your body to fight for survival, as the owners gaze on, jaws slackened, eyes glazed, laughter intensifying as your distress becomes more and more apparent whilst they still fail to comprehend that you're actually a human being with a family to provide for, just like them, and not an actor playing a tired slapstick scene from a Benny Hill Show sketch for their amusement.

...Ever filled with the joyful knowledge that you're going to have to repeat the entire process for another 4 days, another 51 weeks, over another joyful 20 years. Is there anything to NOT like about the job?

I enjoy the exercise and being able to eat what I want whilst keeping the weight off. Gained around a stone since leaving in July so looking forward to losing the moobs and belly and having another crack at a sub 20 minute parkrun once the Christmas stint starts and finishes and I'm back in shape.😁
Agency postie probably have a different outlook!

Dislikes

- Never seeing an empty frame, so overloaded with packets and parcels these days, can no longer keep up with the mail.

- The sometimes overwhelming feeling that there’s just too much to effin’ do..takes a lot of mental effort to keep going sometimes.

- Torrential rain, it’s bad enough getting drenched, but handling and delivering soaking wet, floppy letters is borderline ridiculous.

- Listening to some of the inane, repetitive banter in the D.O, although harmless, some people literally repeat the same few sentences every single day! Weird!

- Not into the colour of our uniform - Red! Just doesn’t suit me and I would never choose to wear primary coloured clothing, I’m not a child!

- The Pay, not bad..but not enough

- People who come in early for free and don’t take breaks - they are giving Managers and RM hierarchy a false impression of what is achievable, thus making the job harder for everyone else.

Likes

- Being outdoors, getting fresh air, moving about. In particular, I play football so I enjoy using my step heavy walk to keep fit and strong.

- Listening to tunes and the radio. I compile playlists on iTunes and then record them onto cassettes, thus making mixtapes which I love.

- Being home for around 3pm, yeah I’m tired, but rather get my work done and out of the way as soon as possible.

- Weekly pay. Mrs gets paid monthly so it’s nice to have the combination of the two.

- Taking my break mid-delivery with my van buddy, we get a brew and actually take 15-20 minutes to eat and chill - many don’t!

Anyway, if you’re still reading zzzzz..that’s how I see it
