Bad leaver

Hi .
If someone has just had enough and decided not to go into work anymore.
I think it's called a bad leaver .
Does anyone know what that means as in what will rm do .

If you don't turn up for work and you haven't got a valid reason, they won't pay you!

Hi you won't be paid, also if you decide not to contact the office, eventually you will be dismissed for gross misconduct, the bad leaver thing is nothing exempt remember you'll lose anything if you've paid into the pension, I lost 10 years.. I did a similar thing... Had enough of the crap. Hope this helps

Why would you do that, I did 4 weeks notice, smacked in the overtime, came out with overtime pay & unused leave. Are you prepared to to lose that

Just to clear things up ,, it's not me .it was one of my colleagues who said this morning.
If I decide to leave the job today and not give notuce what can rm do about it .I told him it would be classed as a bad leaver but I didn't know what that would mean .

Could they do that, seeing as you've already paid into it ... Stopping that week's wages, yes, but taking some of your pension away ... Is that legal?

You only lose your pension for gross misconduct in the form of theft & few other reasons

If they just left immediately without giving notice, technically RM could sue for breach of contract. That could mean the cost of them covering the work for the notice period - so if it is 7 days notice, then they could sue for the cost of hiring agency staff for 7 days (less non-working days).

It is extremely unlikely that RM would do that, but a contract of employment is a two-way document so it is a (very slim) possibility.

a lad at ours had enough, so rather than just leave he went sick with stress/depression, got 6 months full pay then when it went down to half he just f****d off. at least he got something out of it i suppose.

The difference, not the cost. so if it costs them £15/hr for agency and he's paid 10, they can only claim for £5/hr, its not often worth it.

Agency work for RM around my way is £13.39 an hour and I'd expect RM would be paying the agency at least £20 an hour. But, as I said, I agree that it is extremely unlikely. But someone on the new contract on 40 hours and has to give 4 weeks notice and RM may just feel like making an "example" of someone.

I doubt that very much , they probably wouldn’t notice ,it’s not like we are achieving anything close to resembling the USO , so a duty not covered wouldn’t raise any questions. Still, best to leave on good terms , you never know.
