I see no point in dogs, a program of mass neutering & we could eradicate them within 15/20 years.

You monster dogs are great.. cats on the other hand yes commence with the neutering/extermination programme ‍

If a dog is loose in fenced in yard, do not enter ! Simple as that, endorse mail as "dog loose"

I've had this exact run in. The very reason I refuse to close the gate behind me is that they should not be letting their dog loose on you. If the dog attacks I need a way of leaving the property as quickly and as easily as possible. Basically they want to be able to open the door without first locking the animal away for the safety of visitors/service providers, they have no respect for your right to feel safe when doing your job.

I tell them this, 10 times out of 10 it results in abuse, usually a complaint is made. I inform them that I will not be closing myself into any property under any circumstances, and I will not be delivering their mail if they let their dog wonder freely whilst I'm attempting to provide their service, unless they agree to the terms I set down for my own safety, I will let the manager know and cease delivery to them on the grounds that I do not feel safe on their property for the aforementioned reasons.

They usually then fall inline and start behaving like adults.

End of the day it just boils down to petulant, unhappy, angry people acting out who you have to stand up to and enforce boundaries with. They won't like it but they'll mostly comply because they don't wan to have to go collect their stuff.
