Anyone know the expected parcel per hour delivery rate?

I am sure there is an expected number of parcels delivered per hour that we are supposed to meet.....

Does anyone know what it is. I think it's actually surprisingly a reasonable / easily achievable rate that is expected of us.....but I forgot what my manager told me it was as it was over a year ago that they told me the number.

RON will give you 3 minutes between parcels that are next door to each other, so it can't be more than 20 delivery points, but that'd be a very tight area, a few blocks of flats on one estate.

Im sure at one time it was 15, then went to 20 … then yesterday a guy in my office suggested its now 30

It takes as long as it takes ,i will not be breaking any speeding laws or health and safety ones for no one.

The timeframe the PDA gives you is pretty generous so just go off that no point rushing.

Just to be clear, I am just referring to if you are doing parcels only. I understand all your replies are based on parcel-only delivery....

but just to make sure.....it's not ~20 tracked per hour including your letter delivery is it?

any item that requires an attendance has a time value. duties were given nominal time based on the number of attendance calls that duty holders declared. the calculation should be based on the number of attendances that will be required to deliver the item. 20 items per hour gives 3 minutes an item. that's going to be difficult to achieve in the first hour of a duty and the last hour. the cwu has failed to get an agreement about the number of items per hour.

How can any time frame be given? If the customer is in great on to the next. More often than not they aren't so three minutes becomes a pipe dream very quickly.

I agree sometimes trying 4th or 5th neighbour doing the job properly avoiding all the need for 1st and 2nd attempts

Don't know if it's the same anywhere else but they sometimes send us some office staff at Christmas sorry peak, the com sends them off with about 8-10 parcels all on the same estate and no joke they don't come back for 3 hours, absolute waste of money they'd be better off telling them to clean the bogs.

I've never heard about trying that many neighbours, maybe 1. Doesn't even make sense to try even 1 neighbour unless you've already been told by the customer that they have some sort of agreement with their neighbour to take parcels in for them.

Trying neighbours is costly in time. Might not be in, might not want to take parcel in..... then got to walk back to original house to leave docket. This totally and utterly makes no sense when plenty of houses have medium or long driveways.

I try five neighbours either side (10 in total) before conceding defeat. My mindset is to deliver first time, every time. Yes, it can add a bit of time today, but it means tomorrow you aren’t lugging around the same packages from yesterday in addition to a further 120 packets (or more) from today.
