Knee replacement

I’m scheduled for a full knee replacement in next few months,been putting it off for a few years but it’s getting near impossible to do a delivery these days without being in serious pain.Anybody have this procedure if so how did the recovery go? I’m 59 yr old,thanks

Take the time off until your knee is better. Then quit and get a better job for the end of your career

sorry to hear mate, go to HR (human resources, or OH occupational health) by chance i retired at 65 recently and got out just before my body said "no more" play your cards right and go for ill health early retirement, otherwise the bastards will be ringing you the day after opp. good luck mate.

I had a partial in 2015, was back on light indoor duties after eight weeks. Take as much time as you need. I went back on delivery but shouldn't have in hindsight.

had my first one done 12yrs ago. the second done 11yrs ago. then had the first one 'revised' (done again) 3 yrs ago. its a long recovery, you will be off work for 3 months then on a phased rehab, but going back on delivery will need to be a flat terrain duty with minimal stairs. you gradually get back into it, but it does take months. you won't be able to carry on in delivery if you don't get it done, unless of course they give you an inside job.

Wears down new knee . 10 plus miles daily . Consultants told me . Alot of people have revisions due to overusing. Upto anyone of course. But longterm health important

Sorry for a "glass half empty" reply but over the years three at our place have had knee ops, they all returned to work and all ended up off again eventually being ihr'd.

i knew a postman who had it done and he is fine now. But he is leaving soon as he is pension age. He swore that getting in and out of the van on a rural job done the damage. .. in my time I must have walked the equivalent of round the world quite a few times.. if a car done that distance it would be scrapped by now. But we're expected to carry on plus more

Thanks for the replies,was scheduled for knee replacement but in the meantime I tore the cartilage in the other knee so had keyhole surgery on that one,I’d say as soon as I have the replacement done I’ll be on a waiting list to get the other knee done as well,it’s a disaster. I need to retire to Spain and get some sun on my arthritic bones. Can’t keep doing this job much longer

Reading all of these comments makes me want to quit this job ASAP.....been in the job 4 years and feel like I am falling apart already.

No way I will be doing another 20 years+
