Holiday Hours Per Year? Correct entitlement?

Hi all,

Still trying to chase up my holiday pay after leaving the business due to IHR.

On a 35 hour contract for well over a year and have been on long term sickness for some time.

As I work 35 hours a week, the government holiday calculator says I should be entitled to 196 hours a year (which can include banks).

Any idea why I was only given 157.5 hours for both this year and last year (assuming I worked the full year, I know that as I have left part way it will be pro-ratad)? I only ever received 1 bank holiday credit in the last two years and have never received another. Had three hours carried over from previous year.

Have attached a copy of my leave card. Is this normal?

I think it's because. 157.5 divided by 7 is 22.5 days like everyone gets when starting off. You were paid sick pay or SSP in place of the bank holiday pay and therefore have already technically been paid for the bank holidays. I could be wrong.

Thanks for the reply. I think that probably makes sense, but according to the government website I should accrue holiday as normal whilst on sick. Oh well. Manager is ghosting me as expected!

157.5 is correct for a 35 hour contract. Don't forget that you got bank holidays on top of that

You can buy another 7.5 days so it makes you up to 38 days allocated for leave (30 days of your choice and 8 days for bank holidays).

You pay for it directly from your wage weekly (or monthly if on a new contract) and you hardly notice it.

I believe you can. But the way it is in our office, you get given 4 weeks of your allowance and if the the weeks are incorrect you have to the try and find someone to swap with. Whilst it's like that f**k buying anymore. It was a ball ache just getting a week off when my kid was off school.

You can buy them, as long as it gets processed. Kept on at the DUM earlier this year, yes I’ll sort it was the reply, then I looked after the cut off time and of course it wasn’t done. Probably didn’t want me to take anymore time off.
It’s an awful system as you are relying on someone to process it for you. You should be able to go on the app and sort it yourself, but you can’t. Appalling.

I think you can ring HR and sort it yourself I'm sure somebody has at our place in the past.

It takes 2 minutes for the manager to do on the computer. Of course they have to take their feet off the table first which is always difficult to achieve. And then what if their brew goes cold.
