It depends who you are.

Some scan out and go home when they finish.
Whilst others are asked to wait nearly an hour before they are allowed to scan out and go home.

So like I say, it depends who you are.
How the heck is anyone finishing an hour early these days?

That's because everyone rushed and cut every corner going. Royal Mail now take not doing the job exactly as prescribed very seriously, thus productivity down and failures are through the roof.
It was RM that offered Job & Finish as a carrot to axe the second delivery, yet they've spent nearly twenty years now complaining it's one of the legendary Spanish Practices imposed by the union (is Jim Callaghan in No. 10?).

The company planted the seeds and then reaped them. That they're taking it seriously now is because they've exhausted those gains. Then it was the sickness policy, now carried over leave, next it'll be something else (commit to deliver is just over the horizon!). A plague of locusts for your terms and conditions.
The machine stops.

I'm sure we were more productive & keen to get the delivery done when it was job & knock? What do you think?
Jeez, yet another thread you've resurrected from pre-historic time. At least create a new topic thread if you want to create a discussion
so that old information is not presented as current.

All I see here is people moaning that they have to work for the hours they get paid for ? If you are contracted 6 hours a day and you’re back to the depot after 5 hours. Then you either do some more work for that hour or have your wages docked an hour and go home.

Surely that just convinces any higher ups looking at your office that duties are actually achievable? I worked to time and only managed a third of my letters today. Saturdays are always brutal nowadays.

It's basically a combo of self entitled employees that mostly haven't had any other job outside of Royal Mail and managers that can't manage for s**t. Most of the stuff these type of postie's come out with they wouldn't even last very long in other places and that's the truth.

Most managers you don't even see during the morning unless they want something from you, you'd probably could of have had an accident or a mental breakdown and they'd be the last ones to know about it. If they can't make use of the people that are finishing an hour early, then shouldn't even be in the job in the first place. Time efficiency is probably the most key skill most other managers do have in different jobs, yet majority of these lot don't even have that :confused

delivery span is still 31/2 hours MAX so if you are up to your time then you have no obligation to perform another walk no mater how little or how much they expect. And they cannot force you over this
My current Rural delivery takes 5.5 to 6 hours rarely complete. Has been this way for years. I don't believe there is a duty in our office that can be completed within 3.5 hours.

Yes, 2loops resurrected another thread from the dead (again) and sat back to see what happened.....
