Honestly, I don't use anything for YouTube or general browsing other than https://brave.com/ - zero adverts. Built/ based on the Chromium web browser so like Chrome before Google adds their stuff but very much open-source so you can trust it.
Try it (Brave Browser). You may really like it!
DuckDuckGo on the left (below) plays an advert on YouTube. Brave on the right (below) does not play any ads (and I'm signed into YouTube on it)...
