Ever wondered what would happen if you sent yourself a slice of cheese in the post?

Well, to be absolutely honest, me neither but I won't deny I'm definitely intrigued now to find out.

Luckily, one bloke has done the bizarre experiment so we don't have to after posting himself a slab of the most plastic looking fromage with no envelope or packaging - simply wrapped up in clingfilm with a Royal Mail stamp.

But the results may surprise you.

Tom Davies took to TikTok to share with his followers his latest discovery, captioning the short clip: "It's an absolute miracle of modern science."

In the video, Tom began: "I sent myself this slice of cheese in the post. Firstly, to save the rainforest by not using an envelope. "And also because I can't explain it I just thought why not?"

Fair enough.

He then wrapped up the slice and popped it in the postbox and was overjoyed to be soon 'greeted by some incredible news'.

Note to self: next time don't scrimp on the 'Do Not Bend' stickers.

Tom concluded: "Amazingly, the cheese has survived the British postal system, although obviously it's been cut in half, but it arrived.

"It's a question that has plagued science for millions of years. Can you simply put a stamp on a slice of cheese and send it in the post? The answer is yes.

"Un-brie-lievable!"

Now that's just being cheesy.

The video has since clocked up more than 414.7k views on the platform, with hundreds upon hundreds of comments from people eager share their reactions to the bizarre experiment.


One person penned: "You know the postage system is b*ggered when a slice of plastic cheese gets delivered in better condition than a parcel."

"I'm going to start sending my friends slices of cheese," claimed a second.

A third quipped: "I can now sleep soundly tonight knowing that plastic cheese can survive a trip with Royal Mail. Class work!"

However, according to some other comments, it would also seem that your local postie has probably seen a whole load of strange stuff coming and going through the Royal Mail system.


One TikTok user revealed: "My son ordered a live snail through the post. It came in a Tupperware box. Seemed none the worse for its journey."

A second wrote: "I bought an item off eBay a few weeks ago. It arrived in a washed out bake bean tin."

"I once posted a paper bag that I'd bought an apple in, just bunged a stamp on with the address just in time for last post, got there first thing," recalled a third.

A fourth confessed: "I got told off by the postman for sending toast in the post."

"The real question is," asked a final TikToker, "how many slices can you send back to back before it's classed as a package and not a letter..."

I guess we'll have to just wait for someone else to solve that mystery.
