What will Your office choose? A s - -t one with union involvement or the risk of maybe a worse one implemented without the union?

Our last one had union involvement, it could not have been any worse.

Union involvement has to mean member involvement otherwise it's no better than no involvement.

That means members have to front up and not sit there bitching on the sidelines.

The first thing an office should do is set up a revision group using a decent mix of full-time and part-time, duty holders and reserves.

Decisions affecting the whole office should be made by the office not the rep.

Woody, many of us.tried to get involved and told management and union rep what they were doing was unworkable.to be fair our line managers said the same. All we got was patronising smiles as if to say" what the fxxk do you know"

Never a truer word written. Too many aren't prepared to speak up and just hide behind the few who do, then leave them to get all the flak off of managers for doing so.

They can do what they like like the last ones where they added 2hrs + work onto certain deliverys which were impossible to begin with,I'll be working my time and not a minute later/earlier.

We had our revision. It's a complete balls up with loops tacked on that are miles away from the original route.

No one really had any input into it. The senior managers made the decision that X amount of duties had to go so the managers did the best they could by adding those loops onto other duties. As you can imagine we are failing as an office every single day.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Is a revision happening every 12 months now? I remember Thompson saying that’s what he wanted. It’s nearly 12 months since scan in/out so they can use all that data to use?

As I posted earlier, many of us.'fronted' up, even line managers. Those doing the revisions have their instructions and posties input isn't relevant to them

Rolling revisions have been the dream for years now; and as the frames get more screwed up from random bits being tacked on I can imagine that'll be the excuse to do away with them, to be replaced with dynamically generated walks curated by the sequencing machines (bench merging). The idea of having fixed walks which get periodically adjusted will disappear in favour of a daily calamity.
The machine stops.

I'd forgotten about bench merging, how's that turning out?

The idea of staff being taken off duties for "revision groups" when there's not enough staff to do the job in the first place shows the difference between offices :d'oh!

If you have numerous staff members even before the revision leaving s**t load of mail and non tracked parcels behind and some even having regular arguments with the gaffers on it, only for said gaffer to tac on extra loops on there what exactly are you supposed to do? Can't exactly finger point at members when these managers are just doing whatever the hell they want and slashing hours off the office knowing fully damn well people were struggling to begin with. You honestly think these people are going to listen to any input from the staff, especially after we've been on strike, and hell they give us these surveys and all it is is a point ticking exercise for them to get their bonuses.
